Yeah and the fact that they stripped the "Real time" events from it makes it not any better
To be honest I always found the real time stuff jarring and unnecessary. I understand that they were trying to tell an overarching story that linked each game in the series together - a grand tale as it were - but it always felt half-assed to me. Whenever I triggered one, I was just looking to get through it as fast as possible so I could get back to the "real" game.
When you've got such awesomely crafted historical cities and time periods to explore, who gives a flying fucking about the Templars and the Illuminati? Just a bunch of billionaire fucks convinced they each have the right of it - while the world burns down around them and everyone suffers under their yolk.
I don't need that story to play out in game - we're all living it in real life.
The modern day is still going to be a thing to a degree but it’s 2026 not 2013 now and explorable through rifts which you can choose to enter or not bother with, apparently.

While the remake removes the original 2013 Abstergo Entertainment modern-day missions, it still features:
Animus Loading Sequences: The popular and memorable "drunk Animus" loading screen featuring Edward Kenway is included.
Memory Corridors: The traditional Memory Corridor/Confession scenes play after assassinations.Modern-Day Rifts: You can still experience modern-day moments, which now take place in 2026 via the newly implemented Animus Hub.
Animus Files & Anomalies: You can unlock files, audio logs, and even Animus Anomalies within the Hub that explore the Assassin-Templar conflict.

shadows was so shit... just awful. i was actually thinking it would be pretty cool (ridiculous characters aside) but the combat is some of the worst i have played i think. the story was painful as well, like you want to kill yourself sitting though it, its that bad.
Mirage is way better.
Will give this one a shot, not sure if should get it on PS5 perhaps... i like that i can sell it + be able to play on OLED 77" instead of a small monitor.. sucks that it wont look as good as on PC though..
Love the benchmark they have for these games btw. Proper old-school.
Had fun with it, very unlike shadows. i do not often play their games. origins is the only one i have a played a lot (like 50h), i have maybe 20h in mirage and its been fun but not as good as Origins.
first two games, tried them, didnt think they were great, decent maybe, never finished. black flag, never played.
