- The office/real world part wasn't needed. It was awkward and a 'fast track cheatsheet' to build relatable character empathy for Adam it didn't need.
- The comedy is based in the now worn out and tiresome: 'Heros being awkward idiots' used now. I honestly think hollywood forgot how to make hero movies with comedy elements where the specific scenes is the comedy, not slapstick pratfall. Or 'Oops that's awkward' dialog.
- on Above, adam 'learning' to be He-Man. The dumb backing the bike up in to the door, and other things. When Adam becomes he-man, PART of his "I have the power" is some of that power is knowledge adam doesn't have: How to fight, how to fly a hoverbike combat style, etc. Here they just make it "The sword gives him only muscle"
- Plot holes to make plot move forward. Don't want to spoiler it. But even my wife, that usually tells me "Stop analyzing it, enjoy the movie" pointed out stuff of "Why is X there?" "Where did Y come from? How they get there??"
- Cringers voice. Man was it WAY off. They went full Disney on it. Kept expecting to hear him sing simbas "I Just can't wait..to be kiiiiing!"
- Orco presence is only a whole 10 seconds, at the end.
My biggest grumble: Only Adam calls people their names. Everyone else acts like that those are dumb kid-nicknames Adam invented because he couldn't remember their real names. In the cartoons, and the after remakes. Everyone called everyone else by the character names. In the Filmation show, the 2002 series, She-Ra, New Adventures, Revelation, and the CGI 2021 series, the names are just the names.
Things I like:
- Skeletor was good. Minus the 'Oops that's awkward' stuff they did with him too. His voice could have been more shrill to fit the original vibe more. But was fine.
- The absurdity of "We have laser weapons and flying combat ships..and mostly sword fight" was left in, with no explanation like the cartoon had.
- Costumes was left canonical. No questionable 'first x-men' design choices.
- Plot was pretty simple, campy, and cheesy. Fit the cartoons 'its not deep, it's a kids cartoon' style.
