I think the characters look quite plasticy and gamey still. Got ways to go for photorealism indeed. But in general it looks quite good. Dobt know what to think about our protagonists though. If i had one word to describe them it would be: boring

But we'll see. Ill take vacation days and delete my real life at release

They are not going for photorealism at all, they are going for a specific art style which i think they have established over the years, and i think they nail it. do not agree about looking plastic but i do agree its not photorealism, and not the idea either.

Semi-realism is the right word, avoiding the whole uncanny valley completely too, which is annoying when games has, this has none of that.

OK I was mistaken.
In the rockstar one vs leek one it looks better than GTAV. But skimmed thru it, once I realized it was 20 minutes of cutscenes mostly. It's got short 5-10 second footages of gameplay tossed in, but it's more cutscenes than gameplay Sad
Not my bag, cutscenes don't tell me what the gameplay is like, it tells me what it looks like in staged scenes. Granted its ingame rendered footage. But still not the 'same' as seeing what it looks like actually running around.

Still looks great, but 30 minutes later, still no idea what playing it will be like Razz

Well, like GTA / RDR2.. but of course, impossible to show how a game plays, you would need to actually play it to understand how it feels. The character might move like a tank and that can feel bad, or floaty, or they nailed it, we will not know until we play.

We might be different in scope or desired result then, as jumping thru playthroughs of games, to see the interface, character dynamics and movement style (which usually gives away if its closer to sloppy tugboat, or floaty ice skates 'feel'), and such I can get a good gauge of if it's an experience I will like. This gameplay parts 1/2 of them was driving a car, responsibly Razz

I expected more from a 2 month hyped netflix exclusive I guess. I could be the one in the wrong on that expectation.

Best way I can describe it: This felt like a long version of on a steam games store page, what the SECOND video in the listing looks like for a game. Not the first one that auto plays, but the second one you click on after it finishes.

Some more gameplay would have been nice, but at least we have the Leek for that i guess, the opposite end of this, not really trying to show off the graphics at all.

But i think that guy isn't really a big gamer either, i get the impression that its an older guy because of the way he plays it. If i was on that beach for example there is so much else i would have tested, like the boats, showing off the water physics, but nah..

Looked cool and all but I'm definitely not buying a console just for one game (like a friend already did and many more are going too); that's just too much in my view. Will be tough having everyone playing it while I catch a clip here and there but PC master race it is!

In the end...it's just a game.

Buying a ps5 now is retarded, that thing is end of life. Also you have to play with a controller then, I refuse to play shooters with a controller.

I'm realy wondering what the fuck we actually watched. No way this was rendered with a ps5 pro. This game is obviously intended for next gen. We are 6 years in this console cycle and normally next gen would be released next year, GTA 6 would be a perfect launch title next year. So they probably pushed this anyway for a 2026 release cause it could take years for next gen consoles to arrive cause of the RAM crisis and they can't obviously wait that long.

Perhaps only some of the footage was rendered with a ps5? Then they didn't lie. Or did they uspscale and polished the original footage to make it look good enough for netflix?

Realy wondering how this will actually look. Rockstar is smart enough not to fuck this up like cyberpunk. But no doubt the final game will look just like any other game on console. With a lot more attention to detail and polish of course.

I can't stand the shooting with a controller. The rest of the game is better with a controller and the driving with MKB is awfull. I just don't understand how people can aim with that shit Laughing
It's a dillema, even skipped GTA 4 for this cause I couldn't stand it with a controller, now I just use MKB for these type games. Sometimes I use both and only skip to MKB for the shooting parts.

Just need practice, you have pro gamers now that play COD with a controller, and they're the best.

Why would I want to master an inferior input method when I have the real thing on my desk Laughing. Also that stuff is hurting my hands after long sessions.

And in no way is it competitive. What I always notice with these kind of games playing them with MKB is that is becomes trivial. The gameplay is adjusted to controllers. So you'll have plenty of time to aim and enemies that move in a way that's like he, here is my head, shoot it. And with MKB you'll just pick them off one by one with headshots without any challenge while using a controller the real difficulty comes in: actually being able to make those headshots. And then you need that extra time, the suicidal enemies and also some aim assist.

Perhaps buying a better controller would help, I always use a basic xbox one. And perhaps it's also better when the game is designed for that specific controller like on a console. I'm playing splatoon raiders atm a bit and that one is fine, it's designed for the switch pro controller (with a lot of gyro though) and then it all comes together.

It's base PS5.

PS6 is likely 2028 btw, oct-nov, according to all available sources. So sure, nearing its end but not like a year away... buying a used console, selling it for around the same when you have played whatever you wanted to play, not a big deal i think.

Can't wait for RDR3 now btw, so this engine but a bit better, maybe even larger (this is 3x as large as rdr2!).

I have the Xbox Elite, it's amazing, and the vibrations when you shoot (you also have a trigger for shooting 'RT' like the real thing, better than a mouse click).

That tech is so old Razz why not get a PS5 controller with vibration/haptics, its incredible in comparison (i have a xbox elite controller as well), you can feel surfaces you are walking on, and its way more precise. rumble is so outdated. its really nice in newer games like Horizon forbidden west etc.

I'm sure it's nice, a game needs to support Dualsense on pc.

As always with the controllers (and I had many) there's a big difference in quality, polling rate, deadzones especially etc. Obviously a good quality controller will make you play better with any game. I did enjoy the PS5 on PC lately simply because of the well weighted input. Off brands like GameSir and 8bitdo are now also miles better than what Xbox has made the past years, if you can get them connected that is (that is one gripe I have) I don't use them because they're 'better' I use them because I can roam around slowly and immerse myself.

yeah indeed, no way in hell does PS6 release next year, even Sony is unsure about how many they can produce because of recent events

PS6 is never gonna release next year, no way they can sell that for reasonable cost with 24 gb of VRAM (and it should have 32 gb actually but that is out of the question). This will take another 3 years at least. The RAM market as to crash first and then they need 6-12 months to release it. Also consider PS5 is doing fine atm, I think most owners are fine with how it performs. You can't compare that with previous generations at this time of the cycle.

Yes? It has proper native DualSense support on PC. Many games has.

quite a lot of games (136)

these games has proper support. quite a lot.

I'm reading it's problematic, they don't have the full 'full' support (haptic triggers) or you need to plug your controller in, that means nope for wireless.

Depends on the game, Crimson Desert only added that stuff in a patch 1.04.

that's the list of full haptic support... i always have my controller plugged in. dont see the need for wireless at all while sitting at my PC, console would be an issue.

never needing to care about battery is great.

But the controller overall is miles ahead of the Xbox Elite controller. I keep mine for 2player and it sucks having to be the one to use the Elite one, its such a step back.

yeah, i bought a second one recently, it had a little discount, it's very rare actually to find them at a discount.

just as i bought this my old one broke, one of my cats likes laying on the gaming table and sometimes he kicks down the controller and finally it broke (connector to the cable went inside).
