Played every GTA since 2 or maybe even 1, cannot remember anymore. But what I do remember is that I have no finished a single one. It's just gets boring, repetitive, story is never wow, too arcadey etc...
What is this insane hype, even after watching these trailers, I will never understand...
I say the same about shooter games, and sports games.
Like I do not (personally) see the appeal over overwatch, call of duty, BF, or Fortnite. They are the dictionary definition of what you said, to me. (well some don't have story, but seems super repetitive, arcady, boring, and tiresomeone after like 3 matches)
So its simply user preference, and not really a confusion of why other people don't see it the same as you
Yes true absolutely, but there is something here in this series that is missing for me. Maybe it's cartoonish style, characters over the top...serious but not serious at all...
We got use to more than 60 is all.
60 is 60. Just like we used to think crappy graphics was 'looks real life', and now seems shit.
60 FPS felt smooth, because it was smoothest we seen at the time. I'd say it's more akin to have how people feel 90MPH feels fast. But then you get use to going 160+ racing, and 90 feels like a snail.
Best example (in my case anyway) my friend william has a 60hz monitor still. And watching him play it feels like running modern games on a 1060. TO him it's fine, to me it's annoyingly obvious.
(Edit): also slightly related, it's nowhere near as obvious on CRT monitors. So that helped back in that part of time when they was around.
I'm sure there is a lot of right in principle. But when i got my first 144hz screen it was set to 60 hz when i got it. I didn't know shit. I felt it was choppy and bad, but that's weird isnt it? My previous screen was 60 hz, why would it feel worse now? Switched to 120 hz and it was fluid. Admittedly more so than ever.
My conclusion is simple: 60 hz is not the same with todays technology as it was 15-20 years ago-ish. I mean pre 120/144 hz era.

Exactly.
I don't do games with stories, or if I do I spam the keyboard trying to get past cutscenes and dialog.
But GTA4 is the only games I can remember doing the story and enjoying watching them, because it was over the top, tropey, outlandish characters in everyday crisis situations. So the opposite of what makes it unengaging for you, is the only reason it was to me
But then like skyrim, elder scrolls, etc. Snorefest of: "how do I get back to gameplay.. for the love of god STOP TALKING!"
Which is odd, as I LOVE tabletop RPG roleplay and dialog. Cannot stand it in a video game..dunno why
Not saying either of us is 'right'. Purely down to preference is all.

@DaLexy posting it in two threads and then here where headshot already shared it I swear reading has completely died
Well at least someone posts. Most people shit post with just a tiny few people actually talking about the actual games. It's a bit of a sad state of affairs.
@Stormwolf are you sure you have been here the last time a GTA released? this always happens but when people are so lazy that they don't even check the 2nd to last post I will call it out I don't care

I'm not sure if I remember it right, but wasn't this forums activity peak during/because of the release of GTA:SA?

@bringiton I think so, no idea what changed that but GTA V was also very active not only because of the disc leaks (I remember playing it on a modded 360 days before release too) and afaik Neon faked a PC settings screenshot 2 years later that went viral and brought the hump to even more mainstream attention
For me it was Assassin's Creed 2. At the time AssCreed2 was "uncracable" with it's shady always-online DRM. But people who owned the game could use some tool to "unlock" the entire game chunk by chunk while playing. There was a lot of new people here at the time posting new updated files every few hours and talking about the game.
30 fps in 2026, biggest game release of all time, as announced and expected...fucking insanity...
2018 CPUs, what do you want?
Just wait, it will come to PC, and the amount of retard QQ will be endless. “Muh 4 core amazomg Ryzen 2 should be running this 288fps!!1 What an unoptimized POS”

Isn't this said ever console, every big expected release? I swear (I could be wrong) I've heard this for every console gen.

what, no. 60 FPS has been a norm now since quite a while. Even for Nintendo games, which should be pretty telling.
Doing a 30 FPS game in (close-to) 2027 is wild. I would say though, for Rockstar, this is, in a way, more or less a norm;
* Release inferior version on current gen console, tons of people buys it.
* Next console generation comes out, game now comes out with better resolution, better FPS, same people now buys that as well.
* PC version comes out, a lot of people will get that version as well.
Maybe I am wrong, but could have swore I said the same thing on other game/console game threads, Console is out, AAA big title comes like GTA/RDR, Last of us, Morrowind, Gotham Knights, whatever and whatever gen.
People complaining that devs expect us to accept 30 fps in [Insert year here]
And I replies with something like:
"We want next gen graphics'
"FU devs, why will these next gen graphics not run on what is now last gen (or worse) console hardware?"
60 FPS AAA being available more often is definitely normal now, especially with performance modes. But I swear every generation we get the same "these consoles are powerful enough that 60 FPS is the new standard" argument, and then the big ambitious games start targeting 30 again. PS3/360 had tons of major 30 FPS games. PS4/Xbox One did too. And even PS5/Series has already had Starfield, Gotham Knights, etc., launch at 30.
Seems they target 60 as that "Milestone all games will be one day" then creep back to that console AAA developers keep spending the extra hardware budget on graphics/world complexity until they're back at 30.
Next gen comes: "solid 60 FPS, THIS TIME!" people buy, years pass ..repeat.
I can't blame them, they are running on the equal of upper mid tier 2020 hardware. And they cant sell games if they look the same as running on a mid range PC from 5 year ago, with 2-3 new gens of hardware eyecandy and FPS PC's have against them over 5 years. So they push the edge trying to get the visuals to match.

Console peasants had Starfield at 30fps at launch so there is a chance a performance mode could be patched in some time after release though it might also be a while after release :/
Quote:
It took 252 days (about 8 months) for an official 60 FPS mode to be added to Starfield on consoles.
Game Release: September 6, 2023 (at a locked 30 FPS on Xbox Series X/S)60 FPS
Update: May 15, 2024 (Update 1.11.33 / 1.11.36 added performance options for Xbox Series X)
Im not shitting on it mind you, it can only do what it can do.
But feels the equal to me as expecting next gen graphics in the next big release of a game that comes out rarely and me going:
I only bought this RTX2060 6 years ago, what you mean I can't get 60 FPS in med-high settings at 1440p, upscaled to 4k, in GTA6 on it?

Interestingly enough, this method is still valid in how you can circumvent Denuvo nowadays.
As for the 30 fps: I strongly believe that current gen consoles struggle with CPU performance to provide the logic at 60 fps, but also Rockstar want to have some real upgrades for next-gen (when it comes) so they have no real incentive to patch in 60 fps. The game will sell like crazy anyway.
