Feeling the same.

This game's atmosphere is just incredible:

The mission to the swamps (psi-stuff) was a literal trip to FUCKING MORDOR!11

GOING THERE and COMING BACK, also!

I was coming here to say almost exactly the same. I "finished" it last night.

I don't know if this happened in your plathrough of this quest but on my way back from the swamps I almost had a heart attack when...

Anyway, all the content added through the 1.x and now 2.0 updates is finally making the game better to play instead of a big empty Zone.

Player Gestures - Weapon Stances - Sit Anywhere

Great mod, you can sit anywhere and advance time (from night to day for ex), lower your weapon and show a finger to anyone.

@4treyu

I had to run away from that pseudogiant in the swamps.

It was simply 1-shotting me (had 0 physical protection, as my suit was scientist stuff for PSI protection).

Man, this looks so immersive.

Also, am I missing something here?!

Came out of Shelter (yellow marker mission completed) and have to move to Chemical Plant -- but that's 1.8KM of running like a prick!1

Are there no other ways of moving around / guides / bases... ?!

This running around is simply killing one of my favorite games of these past years, man... Mad

Yes, to the south-east of the Chemical plant there is a small place with a trader and guide, it's veery close.

^ That's the same location as Chemical Plant.

But look at my location on the map / around the player position.

In a radius of ~1.8 KM (and more) there is NO GUIDE to help move around -- that's A LOT of space that you must cover on foot.

I guess gotta say goodbye to artifact hunting in Zalissya...

Game has been great so far, that SIRCAA level gave me some strong Half-Life vibes, I'm convinced that the devs used some obvious references to HL there Smile

BTW, the main story events in that SIRCAA level are so heartbreaking and terrifying at the same time, I really like the story telling and am looking forward to see how events unfold.

Now, unless they somewhat fixed the loot balance and running around, you'll see what peeps meant when they said that the game got worse post SIRCAA Twisted Evil

Wandering around Prypiat (and after NPP in DLC) is worse than first half of the game?

No idea about the DLC, but after that most of the areas except for the northern ones felt way underutilized by the main or side quests. Which also didn't really add that much motivation to explore them.
BTW Pripyat and Jupiter are worth exploring and pretty well made.

IMO this approach of making the initial part of the game / first zones - harder to access - is for the better, as they push you towards the NEW zones / new content.

It adds a bit of pseudo-linearity -- which can be great in such large open worlds that can become boring after a while...

No point in running again the nth time an artifact grind run in Lesser Zone. (Zalissya).

Uhhh nooooo (*before* SIRCAA).
There actually is, it's probably the shortest and with most variety artifact (and monster material run, with the fixed pseudodoge spawn) you can make in order to stock up on artifacts for either sell straight up/keep for the mission quests/use for yourself.
Magic cubes, crests, skipjacks, spinners, whirlwinds, magmas, etc etc.
I'll probably use a mod that puts a new guide there after SIRCAA this time, honestly.

I use that too and like I said: zalissya has the quickest artifact run in the game between those 5 anomalies. Without a guide to port in and out quickly after doing the run though, it loses most of that appeal.

Well, for me, a couple of runs here and there are enough.

No patience to actually 'farm' those places.

Some nice quests and sidequests from this new DLC, only thing that was slightly annoying is mavka's and some of the freedomers dialogue splicing up frech and 'murican terms even with the ukrainian dub, what the fuck? Neutral
Kind of rushed through the DLC MQ at the iron forest, need to get back in there and explore it properly.
