Im not a huge Zelda fan by any means but i liked Ocarina of Time when i played it on 3DS. It's also refreshing to see a game that doesn't have that shitty UE "look" to it, nor does it look like dogshit like a lot of indie games that forgo high fidelity graphics.
Pulled the plug and bought it for myself as i have bday close up and i played the old one back in the day - won an n64 with 3 games of choice in a gaming mag a month prior to the release, took Banjo (which came right away) and Turok 2/Zelda that came shortly after...
I’m not missing out on this one lol.
Part exchanged my Switch 1 and old iPhone for a Switch 2 with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Reviews should be tomorrow for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarins of Time
Reviewers are always a bit optimistic about Nintendo games, Zelda for most.
When I played BOTW first I was like: is this it? It's okish (for the time), but it has so many weak points (my biggest annoyence are the terrible side quests and those fucking seeds that you actually need, who ever thought that finding secrets should play a vital role in a progression system should be executed)

It is a decent open world game, but a terrible zelda game

I don't like it as an open world game
I would have like it if you aren't so pushed to find those fucking seeds and it just had some decent sidequests. The one that are in the game are all bad. They are rare, meaningless and often frustrating cause you have to find hard to find stuff. It makes the world feel empty for me at last and not fun to explore. The combat and world are fine. And it needs dungeons for sure.

you have a second game, if you missed it, it does improve on this idea, and it has dungeons, well, in fact a whole underground world.

That's not the point. Botw was considered this "perfect" classic. It isn't. It's open world Zelda. It did some thing well for time but he game has a lot of flaws. Yet it has a 97% critic raiting at metacritic. It's the Nintendo bias.
For this game: one reviewer even mentions he plays oceania of time every year. All the reviewers are fanboys. For sure the game is a solid remake. But is it a 95% game for a non Zelda fan? Doubt it.

i think it met people's expectations, it did some new things which was cool that wasn't in other open world games. i had fun with it, but yes certainly not perfect or worth 97%, same goes for a lot of games, not just Nintendo ones.
If you are a fan of certain franchise or genre would you really have to rate it in the way "i wonder how a non fan would think about it"? that would be pretty strange.
I would probably rate Morrowind 9/10 and System Shock 2 the same, that doesn' mean i think those games are 9/10 for most people, for many its probably 5/10 games at best.
Same, now the waiting game begins - lets see how long the night is going.
Also not a fan either of those open world ones that came recently, my favs are a link to the past and both n64 versions (tho never finished majora). The gamecube one was already a big turn off with the setting and comic look, didnt got better with the ones after - just not my style.
