Check out the Queen's Domain announcement trailer for this upcoming retro-fantasy action RPG. Washed up on the shores of the Isle of Neasied, you set out to find your father and uncover the dark heart of this mysterious isle. Wield the Legendary Holy Sword Endu to take flight from platform to platform, and discover an interconnected, labyrinthine world where secrets and dangers lurk around every corner. Queen's Domain will be available on PC and a demo is out now.
I realy don't like these kind of "retro" 3d graphics. 90's 3d graphics sucked, it was ugly, it still is. It's imho the worst era of gaming from an aesthetic point of view. 2d was so much nicer in that era.
And how they try to implement this in a new game is just so fake. These kind of high poly graphics with some weird pixelart texturing never existed.

Nah, there are some beautiful 90's 3D graphics i think. Playing Might and Magic IV: mandate of heaven now, i think it's a very beautiful game. it's absolutely a certain vibe that you lose with modern graphics, it's a mix of readability, the specific level design of that era (can't do with modern graphics, would look retarded/off) and just the cute retro look which is super cozy and recognizable.
This is more like an alternative universe look, "what if" 90's games had more polygons.
AND it's a great way to hide that something uses AI, because i bet that is not uncommon for these games.

Dont really mind the graphics, but these attack animations are terrible.
Very nice game, love the exploration. Combat almost feels like a 1st person Gothic, where you try to cheese the enemies as much as possible to gain advantage.
Music is not bad but there could be more tracks, but it suits the game.
Progression so far is satisfying-you level your character as well as the weapons you come across, plus can find additional slots for throwing weapons that auto-replenish.
Things you may not like depending on tastes: no automap, no auto save, can't save anywhere. Those are the big 3 imo, and i wouldn't blame anyone for being immediately turned off by these
Yeah that was my takeaway from the demo, it's tough as nails and unforgiving with saving as well. I appreciate the game having a certain difficulty, but pair it with a strict save system it's a no-go for me because of how sporadically/random I get to play.

I like it, but i really hate them lasertower-alike flowers... too early in the game for throwing shit like that at us imo!
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

A few meters from that area you get throwable knives that make them a non issue. Saving is also a minor point, all the areas so far are very small, always giving easy return to save stone. What I don't like, is that you've no control over leveling. It'd be great if you could tune your hero a little to your liking.
I also don't like that you need to bash barrels for hours before they break.

Once you level up you can smash barrels in a single hit. I was so annoyed at that at first too.
The game has barely serviceable combat, muddy Playstation 1 ®etro visuals, irksome music and little depth, but the level design visibly inspired by From actually makes the experience worthwhile (kind of). It's all about navigating the layouts, discovering surprising new ways to reach seemingly inaccessible places and overcoming certain enemies - with zero guidance or interference, which is always a plus.
Just saw that there is a quick-save mod for this. This might lead me to pick it up, but first gotta clear out the backlog a bit. And who knows, maybe by then they add a save-function to the game.

I’m about 10 hours in and it’s only gotten better. Some really impressive level design and fun dungeon crawling.
It's addictive as hell.
Not nearly as hard as expected from what some mens were writing here too, with some nice surprises as your equipment "grows" AYUND more (hinthint) the more you use it.
Also I'm keeping everything, haven't sell or bought a thing so far.

Cestus, glove weapon from the merchant, allows you to double jump in air. GL with some of the surprise enemies in the first island, though.
Last couple areas have been pretty cancerous in terms of level design and progression.. game is getting worse around 12 hours in. Hope it turns around.
Is it just me or do the right mouse attacks change when your weapon evolves? Like the rusted spear for example, after it evolves to sepent spear status the right click attack (backwards jump and spear thrust stops working and it only does the special once the meter is filled up)... shame because that attack was fun to use on rushing enemies

I don't have an answer to your question, but I found the spear to be the best weapon against the skeletons. Was super easy to just go up, use the 2nd attack, you jump back and so their attack misses. No having to worry about their timing.
And yeah, I did dip in before the Steam sale ended. ~16 EUR is a steal for this. I agree it's not as hard as I initially thought. I am using a quick save mod to eleviate some of the issues of having a full-time job and a family, but it can also ruin the game experience if used too much.
This is definitely giving me hard Dark Souls 1 vibes from the exploration.

You can just try the demo. I have to admit I bounced quite hard of it the first time, but that was similar fo me for Dark Souls 1 as well.
2nd try is the charm I guess.
This game definitely isn't for everyone, but also it doesn't try to be. So far I like it, but I think I am still in the starting area.
