Everytime I go to any web sites a box opens on the screen asking to activate Active X controls. Sometimes 2 or 3 boxes open insatntly. I don't understand why? Thanks

Sounds like it could be spyware trying to trick you into downloading plug-ins or something.

I thought that at first also...but it happens on most web sites I go to. Even my favorites. This just started happening in the last couple of weeks. I have scanned my comp. with McAfee and Spysweeper and they both have found nothing? Confused

Are you using IE?
In Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom Level> is "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" enabled?

I think it was Quicktime? Any web page that had quicktime apps. it would open the the Active X permission box. I un-installed Quicktime...then re-installed it and the web pages that had the Active X pop-up now don't do it anymore. Thanks for the help.
