It is like learning another language. If you never use it, what good is it? And also I live in the 3rd best educated state in USA. And a wealthy city with great schools. My kids get A's and my wife is working on her masters to become a teacher and retire from the post office. Me, I have three degrees in the trades. Been to most 50 states, but have no desire to over go seas.

And my typing skills suck, mostly because I have cut nerves and can't feel 2 fingers.

If that were true you would know that there are many jobs dealing with foreign and domestic affairs in which geographical knowledge is important, which don't involve you leaving your country. As you seem incapable of grasping this I think it's safe to assume you don't.

Either that, or this 'thick as pigshit' thing is just an act. Laughing

You may not need geography, and you may be content with the boring, everyday routine of your life, but this nation depends upon it. Search your house. I bet you'll find at least a half-dozen "Made in China"'s Wink Hell, don't even get up, just open up your computer and poke around. You'll see more than a couple of Made in China's.

O, and btw, you do have basic geographic knowledge YourGod. If you travelled to most of the 50 states, then you can probably find a fifth of them on the map. Even if you can't, you are still capable of ordering an airplane ticket because you have a basic idea of where you need to go. The children in this essay however, cannot. And that type of lack of knowledge can only be described as 'pitiful'.

Yes it is an act. He is just provoking us to laugh at our reactions. Still, I find amusement in his well honed disguise of stupidity.

Are you referring to Great Britain? Because I think you'll find it's not actually a city, it's an island made up of four countries.

Too bad you warned him. Now he won't have a heart attack the next time he spares a fleeting glance at the map of the world.

You must be young.

4 years of technical school for those, so 3 degrees. 25 years of working in those trades.

$60k a year, my wife $55k a year.

I'm not bragging, but my first year out of school I'm getting $52K + benefits + 3 weeks vacation + double pension contributions....

I make more than either of my parents, or probably anyone in my immediate family have ever made ... and that's in the first year I've worked full-time.

Money isn't everything. Experiences and travelling are Smile
