It's gone Mad

Was getting pretty hot most of the time, had weird pixels in games for a long while, and was starting to see these colored pixels even when I was watching videos or viewing images. When I took it out I burnt my finger, turned out one of the two fans was completely fucked up!

Anyway, I'm now looking for a new card but I'm not gonna take a very expensive one cause I'll probably upgrade next year anyway. I still want to play the games i was playing with the 9800XT, so I guess I'm looking for something similar, rather not over 200 Euro's.

Any recommendations?

I think that fan recently died, probably yesterday.. Since then I was seeing these bugged pixels or whatever you call them while playing movies or watching pics, usually this only happened when playing real high-demanding games. I've been using this card since Feb. 2004 so that's been pretty long I guess, don't know how long they usually live tho..

Well the "bugged pixels" are probably caused by over heating, no doubt due to the fan dying.. The point being that buying a new fan will fix the issue Very Happy! If you cant get a new fan I would suggest a 6800 AGP, there was a budget card recently released I think.. cant remember its name though, sorry. Seems like its the best card for you right now based on price and performance..

Hmm, I just detached the cooler from the card and one thing for sure, its not gonna fit back on anymore! Razz Don't they make the screws like that so ur warranty voids? Wouldn't matter anyway for me cause it voided feb. 2006...

I'm not sure if there's anything wrong with the card itself, and the problem is, I don't want to waste money on a new cooler if the card is dead after all. So I don't really know what to do here..

Check out the coolers on the market, most support lots of cards.. You may find you can buy a cooler that works on your card, and on a newer card.. if your card is dead, buy the newer card and use it on that instead. 3rd party coolers work better anyway Very Happy
