I was re-reading everything, It's quite funny. I thought this was choice. It's like the blind leading the blind .
"two-four go down mighty fast. " hahahah
I think I might get a bit blind myself tonight. I am well stocked |
Is there a hockey game on tonite? fuck, Im gunna check
Even a baseball game would be good. Beer, munchies, ganja, cigarettes and lots of yelling go so well with sports
So much for me not drinking
EDIT - Ottawa vs Buffalo @ 7pm on CBC is what my ipg says.
I think this is the first time Ive ever wanted Buffalo to win The Senators are fuckin evil tho, screw em |
Anaheim @ Colorado 7-9:30 on TSN. My 7 is your 10
You still off work? |
Yep.
But, I know how to budget my money and I stick to my budget
I start a next job monday...$5 less in pay (35/h) but fuck, not as much work and better hours. Not to mention my new boss is an old school tradesman so he knows his shit. It'll be nice working with someone who knows how to do the job
Im lucky I landed a job tho, especially at the rate I demand (no less than $30/h). the steel industry in the GTA is slowing down again...picked up in early january and died mid april. Less contracts, less work.

If a game is on here at 7 that means it starts at 10 which must suck because that means you have to stay up till1 am to watch it. My 4 is your 7 so that good for you but sucks over here. LOL
What do you do? I am such a nosy person. Shit you are lucky that you got hired so fast. It's good to have a bit of a holiday. See! you are on holidays perfect excuse for some drinks. Me -I think I might dip into my wild turkey tonight. Ohh and I have some Crown Royal but that stuff give me a stomach ache. yep |
Weldor/Welding Supervisor/Welding Technologist and other assorted certifications.
Im a tradesman
Ive been welding since I was 15 or so.
I make alot because Im certified in pretty much every type of welding/position/steel aside from plastics and medical grade shit...and I dont do underwater welding.
I used run a shop that made construction machines and shit. Easy work, just a bunch of it and lack of smart people to help me. I have to have a good crew you know?
My new company does armoured cars, so im getting back into that. Did armoured cars a while back for a few years.
See, I like welding and making stuff. Im a working supervisor. When you have 4 or 5 guys you can count on to do the job, its easy work. All I have to do is basically assign work and do my job (which is usually the more complex stuff), easy
Whats wrong with drinking at 4pm? I wish we had games on at 4pm and 7pm...the 10pm games kill me sometimes...those days when u gotta be in the shop at 5am...fuckin killer.
Btw, Im nosey too so its all good

Tell me am if i'm right? In welding you get cert. and they are called tickets and there are different kinds of tickets. I think there is something like a masters ticket right? There is no such thing as a welding degree right? (You prob. know where I am going with this.) hahah
There is a God and he doesn't want me to relax kick back tonight. My car just blew up.
Lucky for me it didn't die while I was out earlier. It always seems to die at home. I have just spent the last hr crawling around inside my trunk (cuz thats where the engine is) and I think I know whats wrong. There is this hole thing, that I think I remember being plugged up with something before. It starts for 5 sec and then dies . Anyway My Dad is coming over at 6 to have a look at it so he wont leave until 8. Thats a nice chunk of my evening gone.
My personal rule is I wont drink until at least 6pm. Works for me, 4 I would just get tired I think. Nothing wrong with having a beer with lunch too. |
Yep, tickets. There's no master's ticket...least in Canada. In the US (AWS, which Im also certified under, has something like a masters ticket I think, could be wrong). Rather you have your ticket and a teaching ticket. The only tickets I have for teaching are carbon, all position mig, tig and stainless all position mig and tig. I hate doing aluminum and its bad for you so i tend to stay away from it.
I did go to trades school tho, where I learned drafting, structural steel design, the electrical side of welding machines and some other misc shit i cant recall at the moment.
But your right, there's no degree specifically for welding alone. Just certifications.
But there are levels. Apprentice, Journeyman, Professional, Master etc etc like an rpg videogame kinda
I'd be at the Professional level now, maybe a little higher because of my certs but for sure not master...yet. My dad's a master weldor, 40+ years doing all sorts of welding and design.
To be honest, its all experience and who you know. I know lots of ppl in my field, from weldors to owners and they know what i can do and what i can produce hence my pay rate.
I can work and run the shop at the same time and I work seamlessly with any engineer, which alot of ppl cant do cause engineers arent very practical alot of the time.
And Im a fun person to work around. I like throwing some alice in chains, stp, maybe some spragga benz or bounty killa on the radio and just jammin away while workin. I create an awesome working environment for my employees...well, if your under 40 the old guys dont like the dancehall reggae to much you know?
I was always told to make myself...how do u say it, needed? Like, I can do just about anything in a shop and so Im a bigger asset than just a supervisior or professional weldor etc Know what i mean?
You dont drink before 6pm but a beer with lunch is ok? You MUST be Canadian
I dunno, i cant just sip booze. If I drink, I drink to get smashed. If I wanna catch a light buzz and relax, I smoke a spliff you know? I drink till i pass out pretty much

I knew I was right about the welding business. Yes tickets. My Dad is always talking about the tickets. He’s (was- retired) a developer. From what I can gather there is a serious lack of talent in the trades. Here, there is a huge crack head problem. Yea- Don’t touch that Aluminum, it will fucking kill ya, and make your swimmers swim in circles.
@kumkss I think some might actually be getting some. LOL
