meh, don't see what's so bad about that. that's a standard summer day down here. no big deal and we sometimes get those temps for a couple weeks straight before it drops down again for a day or two then goes back up again. then sometimes it goes up even higher than that.

Sweaty shirt will cool you down, it's better that arch burn. And don't go in the sun with a arch burn, it will scar you. |
Never scared me before. Are you serious tho? Ive had bad burns on my chest, arc burns and gone out for a good while in the sun and Im not scared from it.
I cant work with a dripping wet tshirt man...impossible. Its so fuckin uncomfortable bending and moving around in. Plus I hate feeling the sweat run off the shirt down my back and stuff....SUCKS
Rather go topless and try to stay away from the arc you know?
We have no circulation in our shop...well, atleast where I am. If your by the docking bay doors, you get a nice cross breeze but if your in the middle of the shop or moving around the shop constantly, its like a fuckin sauna.
It got so hot today I had to grab ice cubes off the coffee truck and wrap them in my bandana that i wear on my head (I HATE welding caps, fuckin stupid and never stay on right).
Thank god Im the boss and I can hide in my office if I get really really hot
I have both an office (well, its me, the other supervisior and the plant manager's office) and a nice big work area/bench.

When I started welding, I was welding water tanks for firetrucks. Full leathers and a respirator.
A roll of wire a day, and the sweat would fill my boots. But I was young and it wasn't that bad.
I did get a scar on my neck, collar burn. Then I went to the beach, and 10 years latter I still have that triangle scar. Probably just me, but better safe than sorry.

Maybe I should be more careful.
Its peeling that pisses me off. I dont mind being all red and shit...its the flakey skin that is fuckin disgusting.
Does your place have good air flow and ventilation?

Now they just built a $20,000,000 plant for us, with air scrubbers and tall ceiling with overhead fans.
Plus I weld aluminum and that is gravy.

We have ZERO ventilation at my new shop (started workin a few weeks ago). 3 or 4 huge fans that dont do shit is it. No overhead fan system, no moveable overhead welding ventilation thing, nothing.
And it sucks cause you cant aim the fans at the welding area as it will fuck up all the gas flow (its all automatic, fed in from outside...well, most of the welders, I use a tank...better and more traditional) right...so basically the line gets all the breeze and my boys suffer all fuckin day...
You weld aluminum? fuck, that sucks man. That shit is the worst for you.
You use a double chambered respirator right?
Aluminum supposedly gives you parkinson's eh
Thats why i refuse to weld aluminum...UNLESS im getting huge $ for it.
Still, I occasionally fix these aluminum hoppers but thats just patch work. A couple of tacts and a few beads you know?
I stick to carbon and stainless.

15 degrees here with some sun. But it's quite cold and it tends to rain
I have no problems with it tbh, I like it when it's cool.

Aluminum smoke is harmless, only the grindings will give you Alzheimer's.
Then I wear a hood.
Look on the warnings that come in the boxes of wire. |
Naw dude, Aluminum is the worst and is known throughout the industry as the worst type of metal to weld...worst health effects. Stainless is really bad to, but Aluminum is the acknowledged worst metal of the industry.
