well considering we pay £15-£20 to sit back and passivly get involved in a new dvd for 1h:30 mins, paying 15 quid to activly get involved and controll the main character for 4 action packed hours ,seems to me still the better way to spend 15 quid.
hl2 ep1 for me totaly sealed the title as THE best fucking game ever made.
nothing can touch it and wont for a very long time.

Not all Steam games are great, but all the SP games on steam may be 4 hour episodes someday if gamers don't think and speak up. Forcing a slow gaming pace for value, how fun.
Eisodes in theaters are FULL length, chopping SP games up for whatever reasons (quickness/bandwidth/pricepoints) is BS. Steam episodes should be at least twice the size they are now... Each to your own tho. *runs out to get xbox360*

We'll we can see it as a new sort of "series" gaming, of course very lucrative (does that word exist in english?) for the game makers, because they can suck up our money with less work than before, but if we are lucky it will also support them to stay on their projects. E.g. look at some great titles that seemed promising and got stomped in due to financing problems...
Every technology can be good as long as it is in the right hands and the same counts for this strategy of releasing games...
*edit*
Oh and btw. maybe we will have to pay for games monthly like we have to for some MMOGs, well I sure hope not.

I've heard that episode 2 will feature the protagonist from HL: opposing force, Adrian Shepherd. Is it true?

Why not? After the Combine invasion, the national governments collapsed, which is why there are these different Cities, i.e. City 17.

Well I suppose he can, he was "abducted" by "G-Man" In the end of opposing forces.

In my opinion, Opposing Force was the best HL yet. It had a strong gameplay, fantastic story addon to the original HL and neat weapons and monsters, something which we cant say about ep1 compared to HL2. Adrian Shepherd in ep2 would bring the great spirit of opposing Force to the game and make it truly awesome. Adrian Shpeherd is also a strong card with which valve can play at any time, as he like Gordon Freeman, was freezed in time by the G-Man and there must be a reason why the G-MAN needed him.

i just feel that the scene went nuts recently i guess due to not breaking Denuvo Some really weird stuff we've seen lately on scene
nonsensical releases by RLD , strange "scenewar" between RLD and skidrow over FC4, Codex and ali+3dmemu in grey goo rls and lot of re-releases by PLAZA(sometimes nonsensical like this one - why they dont realease it with Ep2 aswell?)

That reminded me when Valve once removed HL2 and all Orange Box from my account claiming it was a fraudulent purchase.
I tried to put as much tact as possible into counter-reminder that even if I did manage to somehow purchase non-legit box with working key - it was 5 years ago...
