i've been thinkin' to get a new GFX card and some people recommends me to get an:

eVGA (ASUS?) nVidia GeForce 7900GT 256MB

it has PCI-Express thingy..

Do you guys recommend me to get this 1?..i have a shitty ATI Radeon 9600...will the graphics look more better and the games will run smoother and faster, like Half Life 2,PREY and upcomin' ones? <<..

a problem is that my mobo has no PCI-E slots..so i am getting a new one,and that means i have to buy DDR2 RAM 2GB and new stuff,right?..

i've been looking throu ASUS Mother Boards and found those who has the "Al Life" system..do u guys recommend me ASUS or better check another MoBo company?<<

We're going to need more information, mainly what CPU you have. Most of the PCI-E ready Intel boards require DDR2, however the AMD chips/boards have only just began supporting DDR2 so it pretty unlikely you will need to upgrade if your using AMD. Plus, will your CPU fit into the new motherboard, if you bought the CPU at the same time as the card then I would guess its either a 2.8 P4 or a AMD XP chip, in which case you probably wont find a PCI-E board for it (well, that might be wrong, but the board isnt going to be that hot Razz)..

No, not DFI unless you want to keep messing around with the rig for a week before it works properly. I would say Asus A8N series or MSI K8N, both series are great!

true, dfi boards need lots of tweaking to get it working properly, but when it does it ownz all, not to mention that dfi boards are the no.1 boards for overclocking Smile

I must agree that they are the no.1 for overclocking and tweaking possibilities. However, to even use that extra overclocking you must be on phase cooling or perhaps even better. For any regular user/standard overclocker any other brand will do.

I am not sure how it is now, but the older versions of DFI with nForce 4 had a lot of bugs and suffered from instability, cold boot problems, bad capacitors (only the first revision afaik) and other minor problems. If you check out some threads on xtremesystems.org forums you will see a lot of hate and love... Like the one that can't keep his rig running 24/7 without stability issues. On the other hand he can overclock as hell... But I wonder whats most needed? Stability or more speed than necessary? For me its stability therefore I am on an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe. It has more features too so I am happy with it.

It all comes down to the needs you have. With this I do not say that DFI are bad, just that they have had some problems with their nForce 4 line-up. Their nForce 2 motherboards were great, even if Abit NF7-S v2.0 got the top spot there... Very Happy

I have a DFI infinity SLI and I did no such tweaking to OC my X2 3800 to 2.4ghz.. o.o
Its under 2 fans and a 3.5' drive bay cooler. So I don't see where you are getting that from >< And i have had nothing go wrong with my motherboard at all.. And it was running out of box on day one with no issues.

Also, yeah we'll need your processor socket. I'm guessing its an intel, since you said DDR2. Unless you somehow managed to get an AM2 mobo that doesn't have PCI-E slots.

Same as my dfi, all the settings left on auto had my pc running fine at stock everything.
It's only when you start overclocking and turning off the auto options you may get confused.

But they are a waste of money if you are going to leave it on auto setting for everything, and then use a software windows tool to overclock.
