Sorry thought you were talking about CS:Source. Anyway, CS:CZ has single player missions and stuff and, although they're crap, to say it's the same game is a bit unfair.

kakek wrote: | This beta is crap. It's really a deception for me. Only a fanboy could really be amazed by that ...
Here is why.
- It looks better than CS, but barelly. 2 /3 bump maps, sharper textures, a few more polygons (but not much). Compared to the actual production, it's nothing great. Way under Far cry or doom3, or even painkiller. I can't understand how anyone could go "wow, it's really nice / it looks gorgeous."
- Shadows works ? Come on, they have nothing special. Projected shadows for the models and a few objects ? It's a 1 year old feature ! Max payne had it ! Hitman had it ! It would be a shame not to have that, it's nothing impressive to have it.
- The maps are not exactly the same : WTF ? Counter is like 3 years old ! How could they have kept the same maps !
- New sounds, new weapons ... are you amazed that there is anything new in the game or what ? This is nothing exeptional for god's sake !
- The physics : Okay technically they are here. The thing is, they have no or almost no influence on gameplay. There's 10 barrels that can falls and roll over in the maps. It doesn't actually change anything to the game !
Conclusion : What we have here is the first counter, barely better-looking, with no or almost no new features.
Fanboys, however, seems to have the extraordinary capacitie to find all they see on that beta wonderfull. Indeed, if you've played nothing but CS for the last 2/3 years, you might find that 2 bump map, 3 pixel shader effects, and more than 100 polygons in a scene are eyecandy. You might also find that moving 3 crates and 2 barrel around on the map is a major improvement.
But if you've seen max payne 2, far cry, Pandora tomorow, or most of the latest game, CS:source will smell like 2 years old un-original game.
And don't hammer me with the "it's a beta thing". I know ! I've ignored all the bugs or feature that could change until release. But unless they messed up and released the wrong version, this won't turn out to be anything like a great multiplayer game. |
your an idiot, it is counter strike the original with new graphics. and physics.
You should stop posting cause you dont even know that for one and half the other stuff. Ur an idiot. Its a beta also its not even a beta its an alpha right now.
Do us all a favor and go die in a river.

ok they decided to offer it to CZ ownerd because liek u said if people are paying 29.99 + for it and its gonna be replaced in a few months wouldn tu be pissed? i bought it for 13 quid but im still happy with it. source is a conversion and isnt supposed to be more. also if you dont think the grpahics are "that" spectacular. well then u wait until thats in the Hl2 universe and u say its "shit" with a barrel here and there. u go back to playing ur max payne u one testicled retard.
and dust is the most played CS map. why release a map that isnt most played? dust is a fairly even map where both teams cant really camp and win. i admit i would have liked to see the beautiful water effects on aztec but im not disappointed. this beta is built so 100,000+ people can test the game for bugs. valve openly admit that theirs bugs but why employ more testers when they can do it this way and get more honest opinions?

only SteamAppId= 10 or 92 works.
You copied your blob file to your CS:S folder?

Did anyone try any maps from the hl2-anon release?
It had a mad early version of CS:S in it, with a few maps if I recall correctly.

I like it. I say I don't like CS:S, and I get called a "one testicled retard", and I am told that I should go lie in a river.
Talk about flame ...
So, yes, it IS a beta, not an alpha. Valve labelled it as one. It's not an accidental leak. And it's supposed to be playable ! I'm not making that up. And I'm aware that a beta still contains bugs.
No, the GFX are not that impressive. And HL2 has nothing to do with it. HL2 could be nicer than anything seen before, CS:S will still be average. I'm sory if you are shoked at the idea that one could not consider it nice, but it's a fact. It's not bad (I never said it was), but it is nothing impressive. No matter how you look at it.
No, the physics have no influence at all. Although it is maybe the only good surprise of the games that there is physics at all. Not on much object, not used very well for now. But it opens possibilty ...
And indeed, for the highly awaited HL2, I expected something more than a 3 year old MP, slightly refreshed.

wtf? that's more multiplayer support than other game probably ever had right out of the box.
cs:source, day of defeat source, and the usual deathmatch as well for sure.
and don't say the game is not playable because it is, and it's fun.
the physics are probably not used a lot because it HAS TO BE CS.
CS:Source is just what everyone with some brains expected, cs running on the source engine, quit complaining about it having no new features.

How can I get access to CS:S beta? Do I have to pay 29.95 for CS:CZ? Someone said he got it for like 12 bucks? I wouldn't pay more than that but for 12 bucks I would probably do it..

I liked it. Found it quite fun and bringed old memories
But you assholes should pay a fucking truckload more respect to kakek. He's gives his honest opinion (What a fourm is all about, btw) and he gets flamed. None of you gave valid comebacks to what he said, you just got pissed becuse he didnt like CS:S. That's pretty low.
So for the sake of argument, I'll do it myself, even though I tend to agree.
I know you guys made some sort of points, but they dont count when the sentence starts with WTF HOw COME YOU NO LIEK CS!!!!!?!?!?

CS:S is basicly the CS files running on HL2, it is not valve's product, nor does it give them any profit. Therefore little to no work has been odne on it from Valve's part. They've adapted the thing, and are trying to fix the bugs. They didnt hire much competant beta testers, and they agreed to it. That's the reason it looks so bad. It has to potential of looking as good as HL2, but it won't until someone makes a downloadable package with higher res textures, and gives more details to the whole world.

I agree, but then agian more of them and they wouldn't have felt believable. Maybe you wanted dynamic shadows? (well, I did..) There's little to no (I don't remember any, but it's far away) dynamic lights, none of the light source moves, or can be shot. And that's up to the mappers to do it. Future CS:S maps COULD have dynamic lights (That was barely an assumption)

- The maps are not exactly the same : WTF ? Counter is like 3 years old ! How could they have kept the same maps! |
If they wouldnt have kept them exactly the same, they'd have gotten famed by the majority of CS players. Though they SHOULD have hired a couple of talented mappers to make a couple more to "Show-off" the extended CS:S capabilities. But Valve is as greedy as it gets.

They dont fuck up the gameplay. That's a thing we rarely get the occasion of saying for CS content updates. It started sucking and only got worse after 1.1

Once again, old content's fault. New maps could (read: should) rely much mroe on physics. Disposable bridges with a couple of nades, blocking doorways, maybe blowing up some walls (I know this ain't geo-mod but still).

Conclusion : What we have here is the first counter, barely better-looking, with no or almost no new features.

This is sadly true. The real deal about CS:S is that there is now the POSSIBILITY for major improvements. Nothing more.

cs:source will be the only MP of HL2. Wich means DoD source might comes, but later. And they said nothng about usual deathmatch as far as I know.

No, it's what any CS fanboy would expect it to be. I would have expected something a bit better, more original, for HL2 MP.

oh and someone said "cs:source will be the only MP of HL2"
I dont think thats true.. no one seems to know... lots of mixed signlals everywhere when it comes to that..

Exactly. Valve are whores. CS2 better be free, and this should be free (which I guess it could be classafied as because it comes with the game). They have no right to charge for mods, because they are simply that, mods. If they want to put a mod to their game in, they give it free.
