No, it wasn't cancelled, but it should to. It's not a game, it is disaster, it's even worse than Pirates of the Carribean, twice more bugs, twice more troubles & s.o.

It came out already, in November 2005, but the game was so bad & awful, that Akella decided to not came out it in Europe & America at all.

I couldn't find the exact game thread and search got me here, the closest thread to this game:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/stalker/news.html?sid=6162089&tag=topslot;action;1
...'GSC Game World's long-awaited PC shooter is nearing completion. We flew to Kiev, Ukraine, to check out the latest build.'

Nobody seen it...I guess. Especially, since this is not the thread it belongs to. So here it is, about my previous post:
Gamespot playtested an almost finished S.T.A.L.K.E.R build. Link is on previous post...

Whatever happened to Boiling Point 2? I read somewhere a while back that the developers had been to Cuba to take photos and footage so that they could capture the atmosphere in BP2, but there's been no news since.

Most recent DX9 screenshots. It doesn't look so bad, but it is obviously that the game has suffered graphically because of all the delays. The most notable lack of feature is normal mapping, and the game is very light on shaders. But in any case, I am glad it looks ok at least, because the gameplay is what made me interested in STALKER. |
I think this game is going to be great. The graphix are not top of the hill but they will do fine. I think we can play the whole game more then one time because the whole world is dynamic. That last thing is the thing that let me think the whole game is going to be great. Large levels to walk around no go here then there etc....

don't be so sure
they've radically redesigned it
it's a lot more linear now than originally designed

No, not radically. Basically they inserted a scripted storyline, because otherwise the other stalkers could do the endings before you, and it was game over. Calling this game linear is an insult, it is still completely dynamic in nature, A-Life is still in.

IGNPC: You say the game was over-ambitious - does that mean its more ambitious elements have been reigned in to get it out on time?
Dean Sharpe: I wouldn't say that it's been reigned in. It's just ... okay: it was possible for you to not be able to finish the game before. One of the other S.T.A.L.K.E.Rs could get to the end before you, which isn't all that fun when you've played something for three week and find out that you can't actually beat it. Plus, it was very difficult to tune and balance. So we added a minimal amount of scripted things to keep things going in the game. Basically, we wanted to keep the underlying structure and allow you to finish it without compromising the freeform design.
you also can't drive vehicles anymore.
still, the biggest disappointment stalker offered was the removal of coop multiplayer, I was so looking forward to it. sure, the coop has been canceled a long time ago but that was one of the main reasons why I was looking forward to it.
I really love coop, I wish more games would have it.

As far as I know, SG-1:Alliance has been cancelled.
A new developer is supposed to create a MMOG based on the Stargate universe though. |
