CRT monitors are way better. My friend has an LCD and the ghosting problem that DeCaPsUlEuR has spoken of is a big problem. Dont think even of an LCD monitor.

You can think of an LCD monitor if you are willing to pay big bucks for one with a really quick response time, so ghosting isn't a problem.

He's right. CRT would probably be the best for you. If you can afford it, buy an Illyama as they make the best quality CRTs i've ever seen.

I have a LCD 19" with no ghosting, but Im not a gamer. Go for a CRT, youll get better quality for a better price. The only draw back on CRT is the size compared to a LCD.

It all depends on what you want. I have a 17" 16ms LCD and its great. Its fantastic with text and games. Any LCD from a respectable vendor with <= 16ms response time is good for games too. But dont expect too much from a 280 EURO LCD with high response times. Those are only good for office work. LCDs also have unbelieveable sharpness compared to CRTs. I couldnt bare going back to a CRT, not even if you payed me to. And no, i didnt have no cheapo CRT either, it was a Samsung 757NF.

LCDs are also way better for the eyes. They dont have electromagnetic radiation and they dont flicker like CRTs (which tires out your eyes). But as i said, depends on whats more important for you altho i'll never be cheap on monitors like most people are. Most just want the top of the line CPU + GFX card + RAM but put monitors and stuff like that to the lowest prioritys. Thats totally wrong, a puter without a monitor is just a box doing something that you cant see Wink

I have this LCD
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=24-191-008&DEPA=1
and i have never seen any of this smearing. This is much better on my eyes and easier to transport than the 19 in. CRT i used to have. So I'm happy.
