Buka had nothing to do with this game, it was made by Nival in house (as opposed to Hammer and Sickle which was contracted out to Novik, a group of people who got Nival's attention after making mods for Silent Storm... too bad they weren't capable of making a full game that was worth a shit). Nival uses several different publishers and gets stuck with whatever copy protection each one prefers. CDV gets the blame this time around.

Aww, I was excited when I saw this. I thought it was a sequel to Nights into Dreams.

Actually H&S is worth much more that "a shit". Too bad nobody understood the main feature of the game - total non-linearity. It was so deep in options and choices to make that 95% of ppl thought it was 5 mission long and crappy. In fact it's a mistake made by foreign publishers - the package and/or manual doesn't say shit about those multiple choices and 15 or 20 misssion span. That's why even well-known review sites got confused and gave it a bad rating while it's truely revolutionary in its deepness and got much better local reviews thatn SS itself.
p.s. ...and i don't write this because i'm russian or took part in the development of H&S. as you can check from my previous posts (accidentally deleted account "Peanut Butter Wolf") i often criticize russian games (90% of 'em) when they really are bad.

it was less than shit
the first silent storm was brilliant
it had destructible environments and great WW2 feel
shooting a single shot with a puny pistol and starting a chain reaction that would bring down half the level was awesome
but the robots and laser guns and shit totally ruined the end part of the game and made it unplayable toward the end
the addon was doubly worse
H&S took what they learned from the two SS games and made a game with gameplay STILL worse than the earlier two
how the hell is this possible?
they need to licence the engine to someone who can make enjoyable games
i'm all for non-linearity (infact, i have an acute allergy for anything linear), but hell, it has to be fun to play
H&S was not

So my media is a memorex 52x 700 MB CD, and my buner is an hl-dt-st DVD+RW GRA-4120B, do I have a hope in hell of burning this? I know sometimes some of these only work on certain media/drive combos.

Who the fuck cares what "the scene" is? I don't go around uploading fakeass releases and then claiming how they work. First with a clone and then with a copy of demo's exes... Lolz0r. Not to mention the text in the nfo again.

The release is only as good as the crack that comes with it. Every dumbass can make a clone. And if the crack is bad it's a very strange coincidence that an error appears right after the mission where the demo ended, wouldn't you agree? If they copied the demos exe then that's just a low low attempt at making people download a bogus release.

PLEX clone works for me.
I used an "Imation" CD-R on my LG GSA-4120B. I used this DVD writer for both burning it at 4x and reading it after. Just follow PLEX instructions for burning. I also disabled my virtual drives.

SS was great , the addon too - people calling it shit did NOT play it right or they didn`t like turn based game play so - STFU
Hammer and stickle - was , well nice but tooooooo SHORT
and this game is well CRAP , well lets look on it like this - pros : its got a nice engine , nice story , nice graphics from 2003 , cons : but the gameplay its NOT THERE , there is nothing in it that would make me finish this game , the voice acting sucks and the enviroment is tooooo static

The "long" plot has 32 missions. I wouldn't exactly call that short.
