this is badass indeed. and the best part:

Nintendo does not charge a fee for people to play via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, Nintendo's online service.

pay attention m$, your live service sucks, the only time when having gold was even worth it was during e3, 99% of demos are dissapointing, your livearcade games suck, and now the only reason you would renew a gold membership is gonna be offered free of charge by nintendo. now that is why i love that little goofy company from japan.

Um, yea. Demo are free with a silver account. Gold is only worth it if you play MP. But to each his own. I have a 360 with a gold account, and i plan to get a wii as well, so. um yea; your point is so relivant. heh

yeah man i can see it if you are a diehard mp fan, but myself, i think spending as much as a complete game for a renewal is a ripoff when im gonna be mostly playing sp. maybe if they threw in a few thousand points so i could check out all the game add-ons and such, i might be game, though right now there is a serious lack of anything worthwhile(imo).

however, with nintendo offering a whole library of classics and even indie developer games thru virtual console? i can see myself blowing hundreds on 5 dollar classics because that stuff is worth my hard earned cash. its a retro-gamers wet dream, heh. and should be some pretty good stuff developed by amateur devs too.

Did you play DS wifi? Very little lag. It depends on the game and your connection. I don't think Nintendo servers will have high pings. Nintendo wants this thing to flourish. They know people complain about pings and all that shit. They don’t want a flop.

I think it’s a great idea. We shall wait and see. Till then, STAY OUT OF MY WII THREADS!

Well if you actually know him, he is known for being a Sony Fanboy. He will defend anything that is not Nintendo.

I can imagine Wifi on the DS works alot better than it will on Wii as there's an awful lot less to transfer data wise from the DS.

I am very interested in the Wii especially after the error that was the gamecube. I bought one on release day and took it back 3 days later.

Hope its not the same for the Wii, but its great to see nintendo try and take interactivity to the next level with the remote control idea.

hmm...never thought about the extra data that has to be xfered...however, i am sure it will be fine. i have played the x360 with wifi and am able to play ghost recon while talking to teammates without noticing a lag, so the wii should be alright. besides, if for whatever reason you want it plugged straight in, the wii has 2 usb2 ports and will have a ethernet>usb adapter available.

The Wii certainly seems the one for me so far. Cheap price, innovative gaming, Nintendo also have the best track record when it comes to consistancy in their home developed games IMO.

Their has been word on the price, what about retail price of games and what type of medium will they be on? I haven't read up much on it at all yet.

50 will be the highest price for nintendo-published titles and they will be on regular-sized dvd.

and dont feel bad--getting more info on the wii from nintendo at this point is like pulling teeth. we should have an overflow of info come sept, tho.
