i never use valet so i dont care same kinda goes with waiters/waitresses. i only tip based on the service. if i didnt like the service they get nothing. good example was this one time we went to pizza hut. took the waitress about 15 minutes to bring us our drinks. she didnt get a dime...
and quite honestly, i think thats fair, why should i give anybody a tip who gives me lousy service? the other time i went to a german restaurant here, they treated us like fucking royalty lol the chef even came to our table and asked if everything is to our liking etc. i left 30$ on tips

most waiters and waitresses/valets count on their tips to make a decent wage.
tipping isn't optional, unless you're a dick.

yeah, but what if they are short-staffed, over-worked, and have a shitty kitchen. should they still get paid only a couple bucks an hour?

I tip way too much where ever I go.
If people have it worse off, you should support them.
Help the homeless, but giving them a few bucks or buying them a meal at a subway or summn.
Who cares if they spend it on booze or drugs...
You have to help when help is needed... if you ignore it... you're nothing more than a god damn asshole. I’m sorry. If you’re greedy penny-pincher you ought to live in a homeless shelter or on the streets to see how tough some people have it. Also, if you take life for granted, you should die
Seriously. Some people do their best to put food on the table, even if the job is shunned by the society. It's up to you whether you want to help them or not. I choose to help them. No matter what’s the price.

mike- wrote: | what good is giving money to a hobo if hes gonna spend it on booze or drugs?? thats not gonna help them at all, thats just gonna feed a bad habit. |
Eeither way the money they'll get will go on booze and narcotics. In my opinion, it's good that it's my money and not someone else’s. People see it as a waste. I've seen homeless people buy food with the money that was given to them. Not each and every single hobo is an alcoholic.
It's a hit/miss situation. I don't really care what they spend it on. It's good for them if they want to waste it on alcohol/narcotics. Some of them can't help it that they're addicted. But others really need it. And if you see every hobo as a narcotics-abuser or an alcoholic and you ignore each and every one of them because of it, you're failing to help a whole lot of needy people.
I just can't do that.
It’s the way I work. Some people need help and people just walk by and ignore them. That’s just wrong. I can’t stand it. People need help, and everyone else thinks they’re snobby and ignore the problem. I hate that.
I want some of these pricks wake up to the life they, themselves, ignore and see how horrid/painful it really is. And I hope others will ignore them just as they, themselves, did.

i'd give money to the homeless, if they didn't end up there by their actions. like you said, it could go to booze or drugs, which might even be the reason why they are in the situation they are in. if i'm gonna help one of them, i'll go buy some food and give them it, that way it goes to what i know will help, rather than what i know'll make the situation no better than it is.

i help lots of people, but its my choice of who i help and who i dont. homeless people are at the bottom of my list, but that doesnt make me an ignorant asshole like you kinda put it (im not saying that you call me that )
most homeless people, like i said before, put themselves in their position, they are grown up and if they really wanted to, they could get themselves out of it. and in most bigger cities if you are homeless you get food at all the shelters, why should i give them money if they get their food? doesnt make much sense to me...but thats just me

But addiction is a serious problem.
People commit suicide because of their addictions. It may not seem like much, but giving a starving alcoholic a bottle of rum is a good thing. I know it's not ok to support substance abuse or substance addiction, but some of these people can't help it. And even if you think it's unacceptable, sometimes you have to help them.
You can't just ignore it. It won't get better because you ignore it. It’ll get worse.
People won't get a better job because you won’t tip them. They'll continue doing what they do because they
a) have a family to feed
b) have bills to pay
c) all of the above
d) trying to live a normal life
e) etc.

i didnt say all of them, i said most of them. and quite frankly, i dont care what you think of me, its my choice not to support some homeless' addiction, i dont think it really helps them anyway.
and about waiters/waitresses, i do tip them, if the service is satisfying. read my example again, there is no fucking excuse to take over 15 minutes to bring us our drinks, no matter how short-staffed they are. it usually doesnt take longer than 2 fucking minutes.

Quote: | NICE GUY EDDIE: Okay, everybody cough up green for the little lady.
NICE GUY EDDIE: C'mon, throw in a buck.
MR. PINK: Uh-uh. I don't tip.
NICE GUY EDDIE: Whaddaya mean you don't tip?
MR. PINK: I don't believe in it.
NICE GUY EDDIE: You don't believe in tipping?
MR. WHITE: I love this kid, he's a madman, this guy.
MR. BLONDE: Do you have any idea what these ladies make? They make shit.
MR. PINK: Don't give me that. She don't make enough money, she can quit.
NICE GUY EDDIE: I don't even know a Jew who'd have the balls to say that. So let's get this straight. You never ever tip?
MR. PINK: I don't tip because society says I gotta. I tip when somebody deserves a tip. When somebody really puts forth an effort, they deserve a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, that shit's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doin their job.
MR. BLUE: Our girl was nice.
MR. PINK: Our girl was okay. She didn't do anything special.
MR. BLONDE: What's something special, take ya in the kitchen and suck your dick?
NICE GUY EDDIE: I'd go over twelve percent for that.
MR. PINK: Look, I ordered coffee. Now we've been here a long fuckin time, and she's only filled my cup three times. When I order coffee, I want it filled six times.
MR. BLONDE: What if she's too busy?
MR. PINK: The words "too busy" shouldn't be in a waitress's vocabulary.
NICE GUY EDDIE: Excuse me, Mr. White, but the last thing you need is another cup of coffee.
MR. PINK: These ladies aren't starvin to death. They make minimum wage. When I worked for minimum wage, I wasn't lucky enough to have a job that society deemed tipworthy.
NICE GUY EDDIE: Ahh, now we're getting down to it. It's not just that he's a cheap bastard--
MR. ORANGE: --It is that too--
NICE GUY EDDIE: --It is that too. But it's also he couldn't get a waiter job. You talk like a pissed off dishwasher: "Fuck those cunts and their fucking tips."
MR. BLONDE: So you don't care that they're counting on your tip to live?
MR. PINK: Do you know what this is? It's the world's smallest violin, playing just for the waitresses.
MR. BLONDE: You don't have any idea what you're talking about. These people bust their ass. This is a hard job.
MR. PINK: So's working at McDonald's, but you don't feel the need to tip them. They're servin ya food, you should tip em. But no, society says tip these guys over here, but not those guys over there. That's bullshit.
MR. ORANGE: They work harder than the kids at McDonald's.
MR. PINK: Oh yeah, I don't see them cleaning fryers.
MR. BROWN: These people are taxed on the tips they make. When you stiff 'em, you cost them money.
MR. BLONDE: Waitressing is the number one occupation for female non-college graduates in this country. It's the one jab basically any woman can get, and make a living on. The reason is because of tips.
MR. PINK: Fuck all that. Hey, I'm very sorry that the government taxes their tips. That's fucked up. But that ain't my fault. it would appear that waitresses are just one of the many groups the government fucks in the ass on a regular basis. You show me a paper says the government shouldn't do that, I'll sign it. Put it to a vote, I'll vote for it. But what I won't do is play ball. And this non- college bullshit you're telling me, I got two words for that: "Learn to fuckin type." Cause if you're expecting me to help out with the rent, you're in for a big fuckin surprise.
MR. ORANGE: He's convinced me. Give me my dollar back.
JOE: Okay ramblers, let's get to rambling. Wait a minute, who didn't throw in?
MR. ORANGE: Mr. White.
JOE: Mr. White? Why?
MR. ORANGE: He don't tip.
JOE: He don't tip? You don't tip? Why?
MR. ORANGE: He don't believe in it.
JOE: He don't believe in it? You don't believe in it?
MR. ORANGE: Nope.
JOE: Shut up! Cough up the buck, ya cheap bastard, I paid for your goddamn breakfast.
MR. PINK: Because you paid for the breakfast, I'm gonna tip. Normally I wouldn't.
JOE: Whatever. Just throw in your dollar, and let's move. See what I'm dealing with here. Infants. I'm fuckin dealin with infants. |

i was refering to the country i live in not the homeless people of canada.
over here if you have nowhere to live then the goverment will find you somewhere and very fast they will also pay the fucking rent if you cant afford to
you can live on state benefits forever aslong as you can provide proof you are actively seeking work, after around 6months of signing on the goverment will pressure you into any crap job but its not hard to give a bad impression of yourself in a job interview is it.
i know someone who is 29 and has never had a job in his life he still has a roof over his head and can afford to go out clubbing every week
these so called homeless people in the UK obviously just dont want jobs and there are alot of them
