Not at all, remember, we all vote on who becomes a VIP, and if they get in that means two things:
1. They've been here for quite a while.
2. They're the type of person the majority of us consider a respectable member. Who we trust with this kind of information.
That means we will have no problem with them reading through the old threads, the information will still be restricted to the VIP forum.
Bad system? How do you think any private group or organisation works. The current members review prospective members before letting them join to maintain a certain standard.

Not at all, remember, we all vote on who becomes a VIP, and if they get in that means two things:

Exactly.
It all depends on the person.
Alot of the vips have differing viewpoints on various subjects, which is cool and ok. Diversity is needed.

Thats true, but post count doesn't equate to the amount of time someone has spent here. Lots of people just browse most of the time, only making the odd post.
YourGod, as for it being a democracy, well why should that be an issue? It's not as if we VIP's have any power, a very minor amount of influence maybe, but that comes with being a regular. We're not here to serve the people, unlike the mods, so why should the people decide who is allowed in our private community?
As I said before, just like any private community or organisation, we decide who we want to join. You don't have the public voting on who should be the next stone mason, the current members decide who they want to accept.

Its an interesting idea, personally I like it, not sure how the other mods/admins would feel though. Like I said, I feel that a huge number of people on the forum deserve a similar "honor" to that of the VIP's, they have contributed to this community and without them this would not be NFOrce. Even the people who are asses deserve some credit for that. My point is that there are plenty of users who deserve the status, plenty of users who probably deserve to help make the choice too.. we shall see.. but I will certainly bring it up should it not be taken from the thread.

I certainly agree with you with regards to how new mods should be chosen. I know we did it through votes once with Stooz, and that turned out well. Not sure if any of the other mods were picked that way.
Although really i'm not very confident any of this will be implemented. I don't know how much the admins visit the forum, but it's probably not very often. There are already some members who've been voted in as VIP's but haven't recieved their status yet.
As for everyone voting on VIP's, well I don't really see the point. It's not as if they're voting on who has power in the forum, they're just voting on who has access to a private section. Nothing that affects them at all.

sigh... for now VIP selection is down it seems.. i like the voting crap starter is talking about, sadly we have to wait for MRT to come back first... also no, choosing mods won't go to public...
also I am not for giving a lot more people VIP access, especially if they are rather new... the VIP forums are... iffy... and shouldn't be open to just everyone who posts a lot or is just friendly...
and you are right starter you will probably never become a VIP I think your record breaking 134297 bans have made sure of that.
I am guessing the reason why SIDD or 4me2 not become VIPs is that they tend to post a lot of good info, and then reducing themselves to name calling and just out right flaming from time to time, in contrast, SJ might be one sided, however he has never flamed anyone...
