Civilization and Caesar are way much better than this :
- no multiplayer
- no random maps generation
- not many maps
- a new game with a classical gameplay, nothing new here

Well, not so bad but could have been much better, maybe 65 or 70 on 100...

I'm having alot of trouble maintaining granary food stocks in mission 3. No matter how many goddamned Goat Farms / Butchers I build, I keep running out of food. Also, why give us the option to build Mills/Bakerys but not fucking Wheat farms to supply them? Also, how do I go about lowering the unemployment levels efficiently? I've got tons of temples, olive presses, and other buildings (which are useless, as my current houses have all the supply they need), yet I still get a -5 happiness due to unemployment.

Hmm I had high expectations of another caesar game, but it seems it's just a bad settlers II clone, I actually had more fun playing the demo of Settlers II 10 year anniversary than this game Razz

I had high hopes for this game, but Tropico is still my #1 favourite 'city builder'. It's not a bad game at all, but I expected more from the makers of Stronghold and Civilization.

Is this any good, worth wasting hard disk space on? I got GOTRE and it sucked monkey ballz. I am still looking for a game to replace caesar III.

It's OK. It's a lot like Caesar III, except I don't think you'll like it just as much because the nostalgic feeling in your head makes Caesar out to be better than it really was. Even though I agree that it was a great game.

You can lower the food comsumption rate by degrading the food rations you give your citizens and research techs that benefit farm output (happiness too is nice)... The idea behind building Mills/Bakerys is that you can import Wheat from Rome itself to get your food production a kick highter Wink

Has anybody here been able to find an official forum for this game ?

I just get stranded at the 2kgames corporate site, but cant find a forum there..
Until now I find teh game a bit drab, somewhat boring copy of ceasar III.

Was mainly wondering how to up the resolution to 1600x1200

yup having the same problem .. at max rez when you zoom right in its kinda on . but when zoomed out and try to select something the mouse coordinates are WAYYY off... i fucked with it a little and found out its a resolution problem .. dropping to 1280x864 is almost fixed, assuming 1024x768 it will work fine ... which i woud never play a game with soooo

which rls did you try it with? thinking it might be the RLD version .. might give the straight clone a try if someone hasnt tested the theory already

its not a super game but its something to wait for caeser4 with i guess .. unless this mouse problem doesnt go away .. hell with it then Razz

Firaxis didn't have that much to do with this game, and I didn't like the Stronghold games at all, so my hopes for this being a good game was close to non-existant

I played this game for an hour, it's nothing special (the tech tree is a let-down, and this was the only place where it differs from other games like this). Let's hope Caesar IV will be better

but yeah man on that low res its unplayable ... at least for a graphics, non half screen UI, freak like myself i guess

its actually a really good game..at the start i thought it sucked.. but its really good after awhile.... it seems to "fix" the problem that alot of these type of games have.. is that the "playing space" is just not the right size... but it seems to do it ok..

The only retarded thing is that there is no random map type deal.... + a few lil bugs

its not a "Great historic game" .. but its good.. i would give it around a 83%

by the way you CAN tilt and change the camera... there is a console command for it... ill post it later if i can remember it Smile Very Happy

But the fighting is poor compared to Stronghold. Its actually yet another rip of Caeser IIIs fighting which sucked hard.

So far its not bad. I've played a few missions, but I have some beefs:
unemployment is impossible, if you make more jobs more people show up. You can't stay ahead of it.

This whole relocating buildings thing..the first time..neat. Relocating those insulas to domus though. Not so cool because they're big. Kind of a pain in the ass.

Yeah, this makes it pointless to have a negative score for this, when it's IMPOSSIBLE to have no unemployment

This relocating thing is really pissing me me off even further now. It makes it hard to plan your cities as everytime you upgrade a house its bigger which usually means getting it a new location entirely which means new services as they'll be too far from the old ones, and that means new houses and workers, etc.
