You said you build custom computers for years now....well how come you don´t know anything about R9500 to R9700..????

I was about to buy a 9700 in the store, when the owner told me about the soft mod thing, i loved it Smile

If you take a R9700 and compare it to R9500 128mb Sapphire version, there are NO DIFFERENCES, except the pipeline issues, which you can re-enable....

And SkylineGTR@ i tested my card agianst Radeon 9700 pro...i won.... Not by many percent, but there was a difference...

Dont need to google anything....eh what????? Ive built many cutsom comps for years, but i still google for more info Smile

NOTE: After i soft moded my card, i used riva tuner to auto detect memory core and so on.....

Don´t think ATI will do anything like this anymore with future cards

Artifact issue,happens to some...luckily not me....

NOTE: NOt all r9500 works with this...you need proper 128 mb version

Grooby@ how come??? Youre not tuning anything. just unlock the extra pipelines...if it works then its awesome, if it dont, just change it back...
Buy a card? When you can soft mod it..???!?


What you must understand is that the 4 pipes you enable using the mod may or may not work well. Why? Because the suppliers are not going to test the pipes that will not be used. Its the exact same thing for cpus. You might end up with a chip that is higly overclockable, but that doesnt mean your model is overclockable (exept for extreme cases like the P4c). When they produce models with the same composition but with different specs they filter from top to bottom. Meaning if they need (for example) 40% of the models to run at highest specs and 60% at lowest specs, they first test the models at high specs untill they reach the 40% needed. All the ones that failed it may succeed in passing the low specs test. This is why overclocking is NOT recommended. It might work perfectly with one, but may cause problems for another.

Consider yourself one of the lucky ones, because the mod didnt work for everyone.

Um??? I never said it was a radeon 9700 pro, i said the stats were higher.
And yes you can soft mod youre R9500 to R9700, and thats a FACT...

Srry for trying to make youre card better.... My R9500 is now a R9700 /stats better than pro version....

I must say, you replied very odd...If you dont belive me...google it....this is old news.....

Just got the mail about the trailer. Going to download the video quick. Hope It's good.

edit: Climbing over fences and driving lowriders looks cool but I didn't like the graphics.

Yeah the graphics are shit, but thats just par for ther coarse with the GTA games.

there wont be any higher res textures in the pc version.
gta3 did not have it nor did vice city so the chanse of this having it is around 0.000000001% Laughing
but who cares about graphics in the gta games?!?
gta is all about gameplay and gameplay is something it has lots off

besides, the game would be extremely laggy and you would most likley need a top of the line system if you would want smooth gameplay if the game had awesome graphics. the cities are just way too big for this for the average system.
they could problary get around that by having more load screens but that would suck majorly.

I really agree with you..It would be absolutely ilogical not to produce a PC version......But I dont know why this much expectation in this PC game forum..As I have read in news, first of all there isnt any official confirmation of a PC version...and second if it is announced, all I have read schedule it at least to the end of next year....Plenty of time to wait...

Since I live in Edinburgh (where the game is developed) I met a guy who I haven't spoken to in ages who is now testing GTA:SA. I tried to get some info from him about features in the game but he said he was under strict instructions not to tell anyone. He did tell me that you had 7 different girlfriends that you have to keep happy and there's parts where u have to have sex with them and get the rhythm right etc.

Dunno if it's new information but I thought I'd share.

GTA: SA PC update. From shacknews: "There's also word of a Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas PC release, it's expected to come out during the third fiscal quarter of 2005 so that means between May and July."
