what about that other method of just making a string/original folder and putting the global.res in that folder of the german one. that works too. but will it work down the line is the question.

It'll work and u can finish the game with it without any probs. Only i'm not sure if the crack works till the end of the game. So if u use the mini-image u won't 4 sure have any probs finishing the game.

i have a question,, i have reloaded release ,, i copy DarkStarOne.exe and rewrite it but whar are these two other files ? (DarkStarOne.org and Voyager.dll) they are not in installation folder,, but anyway it dont work for me,, 0Cr bug and else ,, maybe somebody do miniimage with mds data or something like that.

Yes, tried both ways. Tried french release too as well but the text is messing up after a while i noticed.

I downloaded the US patch with the reloaded release and it installed fine, it still says I need a crack to launch the game tho, but it did say it removes ingame cd checks after its launched in the build notes

So, no one knows any fix for the text screwing up occasionally if you do the german to english conversion?
Are there any other files that need moving or changing besides the global.res, the radio folder and the video folder?

You can do 1.1
But why bother with 1.2? It doesn't hardly change anything.

patching the german to 1.1 will stop you from being able to play it. it updates the protection to ProtectDisc 7. so....dont do that.

This occurs only from french to english, not from german to english, at least i didn't encounter probs with that.

So? Using DT 3.47 with virtual cd hide lets you play german 1.1 without probs.
I'm doing 1.1 german conversion right now.

Look in the english installed version, you'll see the folder string with ENG\global.res in it. Now open 3s_3dadd.cpr in the german installed version with winrar. Now you'll see strings\origal\global.res again. Replace the german file global.res in 3s_3dapp.cpr with the english one. Zip the file again and rename it to .cpr again. Remember u'll play the game from the german installed version. Now replace the new .cpr with the old german one. Apply the german crack and change the video, sound, music and subs from german to english. If u do exactly like this it'll work  |
I thought that i followed your instructions to the letter, but somewhere along the line i must have messed up, cuz now i have english subs, no crack errors, and german speech ;P Either i start all over or take a crash course in german  |
Everything is allright u must change all the video's, watch that it overwrites each german movie file and copy radio(stream) from english voice to same in the german version, it's stored in sound in the german version.

Any word if Reloaded (or anyone else for that matter) is considering another try at this game?
I don't feel like downloading another 4.5 GB (german) .torrent (will take like a week to finish).
Just a question, not complaining about nuke/non-nuke...

Ok, I tried out german version of clone (presumably the cracked one works as well). Version 1.0 works as per nfo. Version 1.1 patch applies fine, but to run it you need DT 3.47, and virtual CD hide 1.0.0.4 (may need to enable w2k compatability on game .exe)
Now for the german to english conversion info (but all of the guides so far I've seen have things wrong with thier instructions like wrong folders or filenames or incomplete)
What I did was make a backup copy of the english install files, then uninstalled that, and then installed german.
Basic cliff note instructions:
1) Replace radio(stream) folder with english version (keep RADIO_NOISE.mp3 & RADIO_NOISE_15.mp3 from german version, may not be required, but I did it to be safe)
2) Replace video folder with english version (move movies file out of Eng subfolder, up one folder to \Darkstar One\video\ )
3) Copy english global.res file to german install folder \Darkstar One\strings\original
Detailed instructions
1)
Rename folder from german installed version:
\Darkstar One\sound\radio(stream)
Copy folder from english installed location:
\Darkstar One\voice\ENG\radio(stream)
To german installed location:
\Darkstar One\sound\radio(stream)
Also copy RADIO_NOISE.mp3 & RADIO_NOISE_15.mp3
from renamed german installed location to new english copy, they are located in:
\Darkstar One\sound\radio(stream)\grp_VOICE\
2)
Delete or rename German video folder
\Darkstar One\video
Copy the english video folder from english installed location to german installed location
\Darkstar One\video
Move all video files from:
video\Movies\Eng
Up one folder to:
video\Movies\
Delete the now empty folder:
video\Movies\Eng
3)
Now for the last part.
Make a folder called:
\Darkstar One\strings
Now make a folder called
\Darkstar One\strings\original
Into that folder, copy the global.res file from english installed location of:
\Darkstar One\strings\ENG
You are done!

or alcohol 120, if you already have dt4 installed and dont want to uninstall it. just get the mini image from gcw and you can update to 1.2 no problem. as my screens have showed. and get the global.rar i posted. or youll get text errors. and missing text.
