If 'someone' was smart they'd take the exe from the gamersgate version and inject it into a bin/cue thus they'd made a cracked release as the gamersgate exe have no protection....
Personally I would like these developers to get as much money as possible and will hold back a release all I can

Can someone just clear something up for me please?
Let me start by saying im a big fan of many of those empire space-sims, such as the great Galactic Civilizations 2..
But after playing the demo of this a couple of times, i notice that the only thing that you ever do, is construct ships. Is this right? Apart from the research and colonization of course..
I mean.. Is there no planet management at ALL? Except for the tiny terraforming=ship construction slider and such. Is there no planet improvements to be built? Is there absolutely nothing else than building ships awaiting combat? Would get pretty boring after a few hours on a big galaxy no? To select 50 planets every turn and set them all to build basically the same type of combat ships ?
Or is there something ive completely missed? The only research stuff ive seen so far only enchanses planets growth rate and industry output (shipbuildingspeed), so is there NOTHING else to the game than just building combat ships and taking over planets to build more ships there?
Not even some resource management stuff to tend to and build up? (yes i know bout the whole funding/savings stuff, but come on, its just numbers, nothing concrete)

You are right, but the game is mainly focussed on the 3d space combat which is a lot of fun.
It compares to homeworld better then to Galciv 2.

yes you can get allies and get them to do the dirty work, but no theres no 'cultural' victories or 'immortality IWiN' button, your better off with galactic civilizations 2 if thats what you want.

Honestly who goes for the cultural/scientific victories anyway. Although I did like having the option, even if I never used it.

Exactly, I always considered it little more than a gimmick it's just more fun to annihilate your enemies than to 'sit down and talk like civilized men'

Funny thing about the way the keys work, their based on the same algorithm used by another somewhat well known strategy game, so same keygen used for said strategy game can be used for this game

Yeah, I've been monitoring this thread for a while and I really liked what I read. Sounds like a good game. I hope it's going to be rls'ed soon!

Theres plenty of organizing in this game Baleur, especially if you play the full game where it all comes down to tech and fleet 'organizing' also if you do not take care of your economics and planetary transforming you can kiss your interplanetary empire goodbye, your current picture of the game is a very shallow one, as mine was if you read 'anything' of what I wrote earlier and in the empires IV thread.

I think its quiet because most of the people who have something to post about it are busy playing it. These guys REALLY deserve your money.
Resource management gets more complicated once you can run to a dustball harvest all its resources; and then drop them onto your other planets... I have a small fleet that goes around raping worlds down to lifeless rocks for this very purpose.
The hivers fingers are slow.. but their grip is UNBREAKABLE!!!

Yes buy the game, it's worth every cent, it'll also encourage them to make an expansion pack or perhaps a sequel, if theres one game I want more of then it's this one

3 places you can buy it:
Direct2drive: Total shit. I agree.
Gamers Gate: Much better, does euroipean transactions; but I havent tried it yet.
Retail:My method of choice; hard copy=good
It feels wierd talking about where you can BUY something here...

Baleur wrote: | But the fucking direct2drive piece of shit gamespy/ign sponsored crapsite only has it for download for US citizens, why? idiotic!
Anywhere else to buy a download of it? Cant use my dvddrive ^_^ Only got 1 ide-slot on this motherboard, using both connectors for my hd's ^_^
And the download better be an iso or the like, so you can install the normal patches and dont need special patches like some of the direct2drive games! |
