I can say one thing. A good and properly calibrated RPTV, will have a much better picture detail than most of the DLPs, LCDs and plasmas out there.
btw. Once you get your HDTV visit this site for tips on how to set it up properly. You might even start saving for a ISF certified calibration. http://www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/index.htm
btw2. Wrong forum, should be in hardware.

Well the bulb last 2000-3000 hours (6 months) and cost 250 dollars so a little expensive. Though its worth it!

I have used them a few times. My friend is a teacher and he took one home for the summer months and we played x-box. Loved it but I won't get one because I think it is too expensive.

Best Value for money vs quality is Plasma.
Best go for any set which supports 480p, 720p and 1020i, HDMI connection, 10,000:1 contrast ratio, pixel shift etc:
You can pick up 42" sets with this spec from as little £800.00 the big out of town supermarkets have real bargains going on at the mo such as Tesco. They come cheaper than most eBay offers, and you have the reasurance of knowing you can return the set if your not happy. I believe that very store is selling the Hyundai HPT 4260, which has the spec above for £799.00 deinately a bargain, and unlike there cars are considered good TV's in the rest of Europe, I read somewhere they share the same panel as the Pioneers. There selling last generation 42" Samsungs with this spec for under a grand!!!
I wouldn't go for LCD at the moment anything above 32" is either piss poor at this price or just very expensive. Bear in mind also that with only one service provider offering 720p then worring about 1080p is a bit pointless.

You may also regret 50" TV if your less then 8 feet away, trust me it just don't feel very nice. 6-8 feet 42" is perfect 8-10 feet 50" starts becomming bearable. You'll be lucky if you pick up the Sony for less than £1600 by the end of the auction, and for the money the new Sony Bravia V series is just the superior TV for this kind of investment. I'd say avoid both, and consider the Sony Bravia 'v' Pany P60, LCD Xengine or one of the cheeper but well specced Plasmas.

I love this thread because I need a new TV.
The sound on my TV is going. Happened before, starts out loud and gets quieter and quieter. It is ok if I run the sound through the sterio system.
I want a 50 inch but everything else is undecided.

About the projector a few and my friends wanted to buy one and start like a open tv watching football restaurant/bar or something . Then a guy who knows the stuff told him how much the upkeep was and you gotta sell a lot of licker to maintain it.
