I don’t think you would even feel it and it is so fast. I am surprised you would be squimish about it. I bet I could do a better job. I have poked several hundred people (adults, children, and babies) with needles in almost every body part and I know secret needle tricks. It blows me away how so many people can’t stand needles. People would faint all the time from them. I had one women puke on me because I had the opening of the needle resting inside against the wall of her vein and it made a gurgling sound when it filled up the vac-tube.

Thats nasty.
I can take getting a needle in my arm, like near my shoulder. Or when I cut myself and have to get stiches, they stick a needle with freezing solution into your cut right. Thats ok
I just dont like the feeling of something going into my veins.
I think it goes back to being a kid.
I had an asthma attack or something when i was 6 or 7 and they had to do a bunch of tests at the hospital, one of which was takin a blood sample. I was terrified. Anyway, instead of trying to calm me down, the nurse held me down while i was screaming and like jamed my fuckin arm and was callin me names (calling me a baby and a suck...i was fuckin 6).
My mother almost killed her
Ever since then, Ive hated needles.
Even when I watch movies where they show ppl shootin up, I have to look away. Its just so nasty...something going into your veins and potentially letting in air and all sorts of shit. |

Holy shit you must of had a retorted phlebotomist. Lets wind the kid up by calling them names before we take their blood.
I have never had to hold down a child and I don't think I would. And really worse came to worse you can do a finger poke and use the pedatrics tubs for quite a few tests. I think those hurt more tho. When I was in school I practised on my friends. I even let my girlfriend try me with no training whatsoever. Just me telling her what to do. She did just fine but I got great veins.
I would like to say that would never happen today because the training is better but I have walked in a room and caught an orderly hit an senior person with dementia. You just never know sometimes. That is way I think it is important to have someone with you if you are really sick. Hospital staff treat you better.
Lots of 3 yr olds are better than the parents for collecting blood. They watch it go in and sometimes you have to probe (Pulling out a bit and going back in a different spot. Not a single sound. I bribe the older ones with prizes. I can make a cool rattle out of a pee container and vacutube colored tops.
I was never scared of needles because I had them everyday (kidney disease) I can relate to the holding down part tho. I had to have an operation in my mouth at 6 and the freezing had to go right up the roof of my mouth. I could feel it shooting into my sinus. It freaked the living shit outta me and I wouldn't let them give me another so they held me down. My mom freaked out too. Grrr never did get 'my little pony' I was promised.
