I've tried most ports and most of the ships are greyed out, not sure when/how they become available. I'm thinking the colony needs to develop to a certain size or perhaps your standing has to increase *shrug*

Lucked out and got me a man-o-war anyway Laughing Can barely afford to run the thing mind..

The more I play this the more I think its to buggy or rather unbalanced. For e.g. you just came out of a storm, barely survived, reach port and are directly attacked by 3 pirates. So you cant go ashore and have to fight them, and the fort and any other ship in the port wont help you to fight. I know it depends if they fight or not on their current relation with Pirates, France etc. But its just to tedious to go back to the same save all the time.

Does anyone know how to find that pirate you're supposed to kill early on in the main quest. It says he's off the waters of Isle Mona but I keep crusing around in the global map and still can't find him.

Anyone managed to get the multiplayer working?
It tries to connect to the masterserver here forever.
When I try to ping the masterserver ( master_k3.akella.com ), I get 300ms. :\

My personal opinion is that this game is really disapointing. I do not like the controlls the grafix are somewhat disapointing and there is no 1280x1024 support :S

I lost intresest in the first 15 minutes of the game.

To bad i had such high hopes for a new nice pirates game..

BTW, anyone knows how to get to the colonies that aren't marked in the map? In some missions i'm required to go to foreign colonies, but i can't find them anywhere. Do i have to travel all the way to the map border so it changes to another place?

About the man-o-war, due to some strange bug in the shipyard i managed to get one named "Error"

It sold for almost 40k if i recall correctly, but i don't like cheating so i loaded my last save. Smile

Oh, and how the hell do I start the main quest? All i have is half of a map...

Additional colonies besides the one you see on the map at the beginning of the game, do have to be found as far as I am aware.

I don't know anything about the main quest, I haven't started. It's a good idea to talk to everyone with the green exclamation marks when you start the game, you get basic game tips put into your log and you get 150 experience per person you talk to. You can get them all at the same colony, just go in and out of a location and they'll spawn more until all are given. Not exactly a cashcow for experience, but every bit helps. I count fifteen of them right now.

You can find the controls all located in: X:\<install directory>\Program\Controls\init_pc.txt
Some of it is a bit confusing, they didn't seem to translate all that well. But, they are all there. I'd much rather have a proper manual, but this will have to do until someone digs one up or we get a retail of this.

Edit: I don't know if it's the game, or the way those idiots at RELOADED slapped it together, but it's spitting out errors by the ton. Including memory leaks, so clear your memory after you done with the game. Check compile, system and error text files in the main directory to see what I mean. Sad

About the ships available, it does depend on the development of the colony. The development rate of AI colonies and their inital status (Village, Outpost, Town, etc) are all configured at the start of the game.

Love this game more and more Smile And there IS 1280x1024 support, just look for the engine.ini file in your profile or game folder. Doesnt work the first time you set it, gotta start a game first in the default res, then quit and change :S

Man, so there are other colonies outside the map border? Like central america like in Pirates! and stuff? I tought they just "build" up over time on the current map, i gotta check it out Very Happy

yep, 1.41 also in menu, english RLD here. The game ships with a 1.0.0.1 exe as the original, so i guess that's Akella's method of branding their exes. The gold exe is 1.0.0.1, even if that gold exe is 1.41 in other versions. So, after the unpack the game exe is 1.0.0.1, the rld ver is 1.0.0.1 and in menu it shows 1.41. Maybe that's the way it was supposed to be. only an original copy would clarify this.
Also, i am able to map the controls just fine in the game menu, i really don't know what's the issue with not being able to redefine the controls...

Whoa, those fucking water spouts are killer. Great experience. +80 or so at a safe distance every seconds. I was just minding my own business, doing passenger missions and this just pops up. I started right in front of it. Tore up my hull and sails good till I got far enough away. Very Happy
