Quote: | The Empire strikes back in this sequel to the endearing Star Wars game made all of LEGOs. LEGO Star Wars II follows the Rebel Alliance's battle to dismantle the Galactic Empire and rebuild a galaxy in pieces. From Darth Vader's pursuit of Princess Leia aboard her blockade runner to a showdown on the reconstructed Death Star, the game includes even more of the family-friendly LEGO action. The sequel finally allows you to build with your LEGO blocks, as a new Free Play mode allows gamers to customize the vehicles for new ship designs, as well as Free Play all of the playable characters (over 100 in total) by mixing and matching body parts, forming the likes of "Stormbacca", "Chew Vader" and "Leia Wan Kenobi." Other additions include cool new character-specific attacks and maneuvers, Power Brick items, playable mini-kit vehicles, an improved two-player camera, a greater challenge for advanced players, and more. |

Although the game still has over a month until release thought I'd put up a thread for game discussion then when its released I'll edit in the release groups name etc and we can use it as the release thread.
This game is probably one of the last remaining good games due out for the old Xbox. Despite the first game being far too easy/short and completeable in one sitting it was a great title and in this prequel it looks like they took on board some of the small criticisms of the first game whilst adding in some new features - enhanced co-op, over 100 playable characters, mix and match character creation (example picture http://i5.tinypic.com/20rurn9.jpg ......Darth Vader sporting Leia's bikini, from the scene where she has a chain round her neck and is Jabba's prisoner/dancer), vehicle creation and a higher level of difficulty for those that feel the default is too easy.
The game also won a TeamXbox best of E3 2006 award "best Xbox game" - can't wait

Its an excellent game as we all expected Bugulous. I don't really know where all the 360 snobbery is coming from in regards to this title, I played both the Xbox and PC versions and its clear that the game isn't one which is going for anything especially flashy in the visuals department. The game opts for the approach of many good Nintendo titles instead using graphics which are cute and have alot of character, graphics which are only slightly better than the original Lego Star Wars.
I read the review for the 360 version and they said that it had some performance issues amazingly for a game which doesn't really appear to push the limits of any system, they also mentioned that the only differences visually were some depth of view effects and slightly better particle effects - I guess the versions are all there for everyone to try but personally you can't really go wrong with the old Xbox version, the differences aren't anywhere near as pronounced as say something like Hitman Blood Money which clearly had a next gen look about it on the other systems.
As for the game, just pure genius. Not to many differences from the previous offering but its fulll of nice touches, great humour, everyone loves co-op (which is still there) as are the excellent unlockables. I also dare anyone not to laugh out loud when they open an airlock only to find two stormtroopers bathing in a hot tub or when they see the cutscene of the jawas selling R2D2 and C3PO to Luke Skywalker then sneaking back to his house at night and stealing them back.
Hard not to recommend obviously.
I have Bad Day LA but haven't given it a try yet Bugulous, saw alot of people slating the game but also noted from previous posts that some of the said people wouldn't know a good game if it bit them on the ass - I'll try it later but I don't expect that much of it, American McGee is fast becoming the new Peter Molyneux.....let us know what you think of it if you manage to try it out.
As for the Black expansion I never expected that to get released always pictured those as 360 or PS3 titles, what with stuff like Starcraft Ghost and a stack of other games pretty much being canned on older gen consoles I stilll see that being the case although haven't actively been tracking the game.
