Okay which foods do you like from your country and which ones do you hate. Also put what foods you would like to try from other countries and others you wouldn't even try.

Uh...Canadian Food

I cant think of anything uniquely canadian

Canadian Bacon is the best in the world.

I cant really think of any canadian specific dishes. My family had sunday dinner type meals - potroast, mashed potatoes, corn etc
And lasgna and pasta is stuff i grew up on. Chicken and steak aswell.

Well I suppose Yorkshire Puddings are unique to the UK and I love em.
Isn't there some food in Sweden where they bury a dead shark for about 4 months then eat it. YUK!

You have Yorkshire Puddings in Canada? Wow I never knew that. So what do you call biscuits over there. Is it like the American biscuit or like English biscuits?

Haven't heard about that, we do have "surströmming" though, fermented Baltic herring.

We do not even have sharks in Sweden, well, we do have them in aquarium, if that counts. Rolling Eyes

We have lots of International food because everyone came from other countries.

I live 5 mins from a huge asian super store. They have everything. Even my favourite dried cuttle fish on a stick. I like those rice dumpling. (sticky rice with some kind of seafood in the middle wrapped up in leaves and tied with a string.

Korean BBQ is popular here. You put your raw meat on little poky sticks on a built in BBQ located in the middle of the table. You also order off a menu. Some places you cook on hot rocks.

I like a lot of Japanese food.
I eat a lot of Tuna Sashimi, Ggomaae, udon
I like some of the more unique Sushi like: Nigiri (Raw Tuna and salmon, shrimp, eel, squids, octopus,Urchin, yellowtail & mackerel fish. Love flying fish roe (both small and big eggs)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sushi#Sushi_gallery

Indian foods are really popular too there are maybe 2 on each block

We have Yorkshire Pudding too - (Love it) LOL I used to make them all the time with Prime Rib roast and gravy. I make those baking power biscuits. They go good with gravy too. My mom is from English/Irish background so at home we ate common things but she didn’t experiment with new things. My Grandmother cooked more things European like strudels, Potato kugel thing, and snitzel chicken

I want to go to china and try this snake blood drink and shark fin. That is the only thing I Havant seen here. I do not want to try one of those fermented duck embryos. They come in a dyed purple egg and I think they were buried or something.

From nouse's post I realize I know nothing about what Canadian foods are. I didn't even think of maple syrup which I think I have had 2 times in my life.

That sandwich picture and poutine picture make me wanna puke.

@Bigperm.
My favorite cuttlefish are the sweet flavored one. Too bad I don't have them in the house ATM

Those little tiny whole dried fish are good too. They are crunchy. Very Happy

Go order some tomorrow. It should come slightly frozen on a bed of thinly shreaded cabbage.

Make sure you dip it in soysauce that has wasabi mixed into it.

Cheapest way to try it would be a single piece (tiny) on a ball of rice . That is like 99 cents or something

In Chile we have tons of seafood. Fishes and shellfishes (seafood in general). We have one of the largest varietys around the globe. They are superb!!! Love them!! Cooked or raw (some of them have to be cooked, the other ones, only with lemon and a good white wine (chilean of course).
Therefore, we have here long lists of sushi types.

Besides the seafood, we got the "Empanadas" that are supposedly chilean. It consists in a baked dough filled with a meet pasta with eggs, onion and many other thinks which i don't know the english translation.... same "Empanada" can be eated filled with cheese or with seafood. (or a mix from seafood and cheese). Delicious!

We have some other cooked meals, but nothing that much special.

What it is special is that this week, (from 15-19 sept.) we celebrate our independence from Spain. Was back in 1810. So, we gonna eat all kind of chilean specialitys, drink alot of wine and "chicha" (fermented grape juice, which is very good)... and overall... party the hole nite and day. Very Happy

EDIT: wikipedia info:

for Empanada: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empanada#Chile
for Cazuela: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cazuela (can be done with seafood too... best ever!)
for Chicha: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicha
