Silent Hill 4/10. Ermmm... I give this a 4/10, rather than a 1/10 because of some high parts. Overall, the story, for a guy who never played the games, was a pile of shit. I have to admit that it is still a lot better than many terror-films around. I liked the misterious ending. But to many "Sharon!! Where are you!!?" scenes.

Scary Movie 4 6/10 Got a great time watching it!!! It's a scary movie. No other explanation needed.

no its crap ,Douglas acts great but Kiefer acts crapy like it was a another 24 episode and not a serious movie ,
and WTF underrated , the story is crap , a SS fucks the first lady and other triator SS black lists them with photos to keep them quiet while he sells some info to terrorists to kill the preZ ,
the first part of the movie was good but the second was uther crap + you can see like 7 times on the screen the sound man boom stick , and 5 times you can see the camera Rolling Eyes

Chronicals of Riddick is utter crap nearly as bad as Battlefield Earth.

Pitch Black though is a good film.

I will explain as I see the other explainations were not quite so thorough. One, the acting is OK, everybody appear to be quite believable based on the things they have to work with, except for Eva Longoria - but she doesn't really matter, as she has a minimal amount of screen-time.

Second of all, the basis the actors had to work with was terrible. For one, the script/dialogue has been ass-raped by a madman. The premise is this; Kiefer Sutherland and Michael Douglas are collegues in the Secret Service, they have a rough past as Kiefer slept with Douglas' wife (Longoria is just a trainee following them around). Consequently, Douglas is now sleeping with the first lady, cheating on the president! Douglas gets word from an informant of his that there is a mole in the Secret Service and that there will be an assassination attempt on the president, and so the chase is on. Not surprisingly, Douglas is framed as being the mole, he escapes to proves his innocence, and toward the end he joins up with Kiefer again to pursue the real threat. --- This is the story in its essence, and it is as square as it can get, I have watched it before in a million fucking movie.

Which brings me to the third and final part why the movie is fucked over, why it is UNWATCHABLE. The director, Clark Johnson, seems to be a drunk narcomaniac. He keeps filming all over the place, sometimes using weird effects like shaking the camera around in a small circle, frequently zooming in on objects that has NADA to do with the story line, not to mention that the cutting is awful. Every second we change scene to another angle or a different scene. And it seems like the movie is running on 2x, as if the director tried to get as much material in as possible in the 1.5 hours it is running. One second they are talking in the White House, then fast-forward to the helicopter taking off, etc.

Because of all this, you never get really involved in the movie, there is no atmosphere in it, or feeling towards it all. Possibly because the director does not know shit about how to handle actors on the screen. Possibly also because of ALL the aforementioned reasons, and in addition because of the horrible, horrible music score that is rolling in the background like we are in some cheap disco, that has nothing to do with what the characters are doing on the screen.

1- Immortal by Enki Billal. If you like Sci-fi like the Blade Runner dark ambient mixed with a weird and cool story just grab this one, just brilliant.

2-Just saw master and Commander again, dam its a good one. Not particularly fond of R.Crowe but this film just rocks if you are in to Historic War stuff Smile

Snakes On a Plane: 7/10 great fun, jackson is cool, the chix are hot, nothing more to expect here except some gore.

Lady In The Water: Not bad but certainly not Shyamalan's best. It feels like a pretty serious movies but the humor made it something weird. It's like that kind of humor didn't fit in this kind of movie. Usually Shyamalan has a small appearance in his movies, but this time he gave himself the best role and he can't really act. He should stay behind the camera (getting pretentious?). 5.5/10

Frailty - 6.5 - Bill Paxton's first attempt in the director chair and he does it very well with stars like himself and Powers Booth.

Severance - 7.0 - Fun, gory and gory again. Great horror comedy with a good portion of humor and awesome tension.

Office Space - 6.0.

Went to a few movies at the Toronto International Film Festival this weekend ...
http://www.e.bell.ca/filmfest/2006/home/default.asp

Pan's Labyrinth (Spain, 2006) ... 10/10 ... this movie was fucking amazing. it receieved quite the standing ovation when the screening finished. perfect blend of war/horror/fantasy. it doesn't get released in theatres until late december, but make sure to keep an eye out for it.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457430/
trailer:

The Host (S. Korea, 2006) ... 9/10 ... big budget korean creature feature. very well done, scary and funny. I think this is getting a theatrical release in early 2007, but by then the korean dvd will be out Wink
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468492/
trailer:

Black Sheep (New Zealand, 2006) ... 8/10 ... this movie was soooo funny. horror, gore, comedy, and lots of sheep fucking jokes! this was the first time it was screened for an audience anywhere in the world (the other movies had been screened at cannes film festival). look at the poster .. how can it not be awesome? weta workshops did the effects on this and the gore was quite nice! Razz this doesn't have a distributer yet, so no word on when this will be released.

Peter Jackson's King Kong 8/10 B Grade: Skull Island a living crawling hell hole where the chances
of survival are slim, perfect for an island prison. This film has some of the most realistic and nasty looking insects in any film I have seen "insect canyon". The Kong/T-Rex scene was also
briliantly done.

I heard rumours that they will be making another two X-Men films and spin-offs based on the main characters.
