Why people like football (soccer), I will never understand. Guess it's the same thing. But you're right, SCS is a lousy little firm, that aren't really that good at making games. But they make different and unconventional games, which (I think) is why they survive.

ok so theres no fun to the game whatsoever...you're basically sitting at your computer driving a fake truck nowhere. is there any side mission to the game or any mission in general? im just really trying to understand why or if this type of game can be considered appealing to soemone who say didnt like trucks.

It's simply for the enjoyment of driving trucks.
In these games, your ultimate goal is to make money to buy better trucks and better truck parts to eventually make enough money to hire other drivers which will generate more money.
So in these games, you "tune-up" your trucks, customize them and haul cargo from the east to the west.
In other words, it's just one of those tycoon type of game except you are in the driver's seat.
It's similar to a Railroads game or an airport tycoon or even the sims. You simply make a living.
I am currently playing Age of Pirates Carribean Tales and both game reach similarities where you haul cargo from one place to another to make money and you are free to do it the way you want.
These type of games rarely appeal to any fps, fighting or beat em up gamers because they need restrictions and clear and obvious goals while these games let you create your own fun, stories and goals. Of course there are exceptions but basically this is what it is; a sense of freedom in a given situation which is in this case: truck driving.
On an other note, I've always wanted a game similar to that genre where you would just buy yourself a motorcycle (harley or kawazaki genre) and ride the roads until you find side jobs like hauling stuff, escorting, joining clans, whatever to make yourself some money to ride some more to eventually upgrade your bike, buy more bikes and even start a motorcycle club. Yeah, I'd love that game and unfortunately the publishers to whom i've talked with weren't interested.... guess I would need to go to valuesoft just like the rest..

You take cargo, deliver it, get cash to fix and refuel the truck. Then you deliver next cargo to make more cash. When you have enough cash, you buy new (better) truck to make more money. After a while you can hire other truckers to make even more money to hire more truckers and to buy them better trucks.
It's like econo-sim + truck driving game.
Do we (who enjoy this type of game) have to answer the same fooking question every time another 18WoS game is released??
I mean, why to post "Why you play it? It's about driving a truck - it's crap" ??
Because we like it!!!
I don't give a damn about sport games (fifa, nhl etc) ==> so I don't post in such threads and I don't inquire why others like to play game where you kick a ball. They like it -> they do it, fine with me.

If you like games where you can earn money, upgrade rides, drive around a map (it takes 20++ min to get from one side to another I think), mod the game, download new mods and all the other bullshit, then you'll like the game.
I hate you.
