By the way, it was once said COH was optimized for Dual Core CPUs. Is that true? I just wonder, if I can play it on my lappy. It may have a powerful Dual Core T2500 but "only" a NV7400Go.

I have a C2D E6600 and a 6800gt, 1gb ram, i run 1024 high all maxed out. The game handles very well with dual core CPU's, so you should be able to run it.

Um... AI is quite dumb even on expert setting.
If you have played multi-beta, AI would feel dumb.
But if not,,, maybe you're right.

Nice to hear. I sold my old rig (3Ghz P4 with 1GB RAM and NV6800GT) and bought myself a laptop - Sony SZ2XP (2GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM and NV7400Go). I normally don't play much on the PC anymore, I do a lot of video and image editing and there my new system outperforms my old rig by a mile! It's just that the GPU is a little on the slow side. I can play games nicely when the are no too GPU dependent (GTR2 plays with max details on 1280x800 for example but something like Prey would not work well). No idea, how much COH need the GPU. I know I could have gotten a more powerful laptop but this is on sweet machine with twin GPUs (the NV7400Go for 3D and an Intel one to save battery) and weights only 3lbs. I don't doubt that I can run COH, but playing on low on such a machine would be a tad dissapointing. Leaving raw GPU power aside, this is a monster laptop.

Ah by the way, could somebody post a screenshow of a scene on high and low so I can imagine how "bad" it looks on low settings? Thank you...

I'm not certain you have played the same game as the rest of us, the ai is certainly one of the best I've ever seen, it even rivals the ai projects the total annihilation community has been developing for years and thats saying something cause theres professional ai researchers developing those ai's.
So if you think the ai is dumb your either incredibly intelligent or incredibly stupid, looking at your history here i'm inclined to think the latter.

Damn, you guys really seem to take every word boake is saying to heart, cause every post he makes gets quoted again and again. If you don't like the guy, just ignore him, he'll go away(eventually). Don't let this thread get closed like the last one(although i didn't watch the other thread, i'm inclined to think it was closed from all the spamming). Now, you may consider this post useless also, but i like to read what people are saying about the game, not about boake

So, has anyone actually played over LAN yet? Really enjoyed the demo of this game and have it on pre-order, but I'll be fecked if I'm gonna wait three weeks to play it when I can play it now. When you play over LAN, does each player need a different serial number?
Cheers.
Elaine: You were wearing the pants you were returning? What were you going to wear home?
Kramer: Elaine, are you listening? I never even got there!

Yes, I am sure Relic would love to spend weeks scrolling down hundred thousand of lines of code just to fix one small performance issue related to SLI.

Quote: | Q. What are the minimum system requirements for Company of Heroes? How much space is the game expected to take up?
A. Company of Heroes features the most advanced technology ever seen in the RTS genre, and therefore is pretty demanding. Still, we feel the game performs adequately on the following minimum spec: Pentium 4 @ 2.0 GHz (or equivalent AMD processor), 512MB of system RAM, and a 64MB DirectX 9.0 compatible video card that supports pixel shader 1.1. You’ll have to refer to the game’s Readme for a full list of supported graphics cards.
However, for the best experience of Company of Heroes, we recommend the following spec: 3.0 GHz CPU, 1GB of system RAM, and an nVidia GeForce 6800 with 256MB of RAM (or equivalent). |
