This game is the nearest I have seen to Gran Tursmo 4 on the PC. Great GFX and I like the control of the cars, at last a decent online racing sim for ther PC.

You need a valid serial for that, esp. one that is not in use a thousand times. You wanna go online, you better buy it - thats what ill do.

Try Hamachi there's a good chance MP will work over LAN

Isnt that just a crappy render? For a game, this would look really bad. Way to unnatural.

By the way, GTR2 can be installed and played very well but as soon as you wan't to go online you need a serial that is not provided with that release. So you can have your fun offline (pretty ok too) but for online play you will prolly need a retai copy.

Oh I see, LAN over Internet. Nice idea. You don't need the serial for that? But besides it works, how many people will you find that way? Most are playing the normal way.

Not a render, an in-game shot. Smile

Only problem in the shot above is the fact those car/track aren't released yet. Very Happy

M5 Taxi on the Ring. Smile

Hehe, the later shot looks pretty much like Forza 2. Besides that I haven't heard of a good sim in development recently. And those shots are not in game! They look like typical prerelease render shots to show "how the game will look". It never does look as good though.

And to be honest, they don't look good at all. They may show a huge polycount but the lighting and reflections are all wrong. And don't get me started on the environment.

I'm sorry but you're wrong. Smile You know why they look like renders? Because I have a good sense for "photographing" and the abiility to use 4 times of FSAA...and maybe some AF. Very Happy One thing is undoubtful tho, you need a decent rig.

I'm terribly sorry, its called 'Racer'. Now some of you may surf to www.racer.nl and look around and by mistake think this sim is shit, but it ain't. I'd also like to point out its community based (hosted @ RaceSimCentral). Cars/Tracks are made by people...some are low quality and some are superb, it depends on the author...some pro 3d people drop off with an awesome track/car they made on their free time and would like to put it in-game...and as it seems it doesn't fall behind GT too much. Its slowly developped but if you really like to virtually drive cars w/o any limit at all at superb realism, this might be a great side sim for fun at times.

P.S., this is sim is around for 5 years or more but it never got much attention so I enjoyed the benefits of it quitely. Razz

rFactor is based on the GTR engine. Its driving physics is better than GTR. It is actually only for multiplayer. It has a huge community. It is NOT for free. Check the homepage of rFactor.

Nordschleife is a VERY long track in germany. Good drivers need about 7:40 Min for the Nordschleife. There are only very few racing games with the Nordschleife included. There is a Nordschleife for GTR and rFactor. Now it only has to be converted to work with GTR2. Smile
You can drive on the Nordschleife with you real car for some money if you are in germany by chance. Very Happy

Actually ISI the makers of rfactor created the engine that GTR uses, and it is NOT multiplayer only.

rFactor barely has any high quality stuff to it...the "NEW" ring that was out a week ago is crap, its based on a very old one, gfx & accuracy challenged.

Try http://www.planethamachi.com/net_public.php You can matchup with other players there.

The only disapointment for me in this game is that there are no AI cars in MP only humans Sad Unless there is a setting that I've missed.
