Dark Messiah of Might & Magic
 Publisher: Ubisoft
 Developer: Arkane Studios/Kuju Entertainment
 Genre: Action
 Release Date: October 24

  	  | Code: | | Taking a franchise into an entirely different game style may be a new idea for some, but the Might & Magic franchise has been doing it for years now. This time around, the folks behind the popular Arx Fatalis are taking the series into the action-RPG format courtesy of the renowned Source engine. Set in the dark new world of Ashan, which will serve as the setting for all future titles in the franchise, Dark Messiah tasks players with using swords and spells to rescue the land from the clutches of a dark overlord. The Source engine will provide visuals and physics that rival those of any other game on the market. |

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy

 Publisher: LucasArts/TT Games
 Developer: Traveler's Tales
 Genre: Action
 Release Date: September 12

  	  | Code: | | Combining three of the most powerful forces known to man, the sublime synthesis of Legos, Star Wars and video games can hardly be resisted by anyone who still remembers what it was like to be a kid. The charm of the design is so obvious that even we cynical game reviewers find ourselves breaking out into what others tell us are "smiles." The smiles are going to become even more terrifyingly joyful once Traveler's Tales releases the second title in the series, Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. Players will then be able to relive all the classic action from the original films, from shooting it out with stormtroopers on the Tantive IV to blowing up the Death Star...again. Cooperative play, a wide range of characters and loads of humor are sure to make this one a winner. |

 Scarface: The World is Yours

 Publisher: Vivendi Games
 Developer: Radical Entertainment
 Genre: Action
 Release Date: October 8

  	  | Code: | | Like the Godfather, Tony Montana's exploits in Miami and the islands around Florida in the film Scarface is a touchstone for film and game makers. It's only fitting that the character is finally starring in his own video game, developed by Radical Entertainment. Though games based on movies are as common (and sometimes as enjoyable) as dirt, the world of Scarface is perfect for a video game. Players will have the chance to engage in a variety of exciting activities. Branching off from the end of the film, the game sees Tony still alive and trying to rebuild his shattered drug empire. Your small time drug operation will bring you into conflict with a variety of local gangs and DEA agents but, if you're smart, you can shoot and deal your way back to the top. |

 F.E.A.R. Extraction Point

 Publisher: Sierra
 Developer: TimeGate / Monolith Productions
 Genre: First-Person Shooter
 Release Date: October 24

  	  | Code: | | As an expansion to the F.E.A.R. universe, Extraction Point adds on more than just a few extra single player levels. Starting directly after the finale of F.E.A.R., EP develops new storyline through new single player levels, and adds in some new weapons and new enemies. In addition to the arsenal from F.E.A.R., EP gives players a minigun and laser carbine, both of which seem like effective killing tools from what we've seen and played so far. Improvements didn't stop with new content; the A.I. is actually getting improved in this expansion. Now enemies will actively tip over environmental objects to create their own cover. As players advance on them, they'll dynamically react by falling back to a safer position. With all this new stuff, we're looking forward to its release this fall. |

Revisiting the age of knights and castles, the developer will be bringing the striking cinematic flair to an era where the pageantry of battle was exceeded only by its ferocity. The game captures the grand scale of the period, letting players lead ranks of footmen and archers and powerful, mounted knights, either in the chaos of the open field or in long-standing sieges. A revamped strategic game and a new focus on religion will add even more meaning to the individual tactical battles. |

The expansion will build on this effort by adding a new faction called the Underworld. Made up of underhanded criminals, the Underworld is a very powerful group capable of corrupting planetary governments and gaining access to hidden information like no other. Genre: Third-Person Action RPG
 Release Date: October

  	  | Code: | | With the third game in the series, Piranha Bytes is hoping to bring the same kind of positive progression to the gameplay with new combat features, improved user interface, and even more open-ended options. What looks evil at one point may actually look good towards the middle of the game. The new combat system has some key additions that should help with accessibility. These include a soft lock, a tweaked combat system, and a ten slot quick access bar at the screen's bottom. We're certainly looking forward to how this one turns out. Until October, check out our Gothic III page to see how it's looking. |

 Guild Wars: Nightfall

 Publisher: NCSoft
 Developer: ArenaNet
 Genre: Persistent online RPG
 Release Date: October 27

  	  | Code: | | The popularity of Guild Wars is impossible to deny but the gang at ArenaNet aren't content to sit at their desks counting subscribers. After releasing the highly popular Factions content, the team is already working on the next campaign, Nightfall. Though we haven't been able to pry many specific details out of the team just yet, we do know that players will be able to take advantage of two new professions -- the dervish and the paragon. We've also seen lots of the locations and characters that will be present in the new setting. The whole affair has a decidedly North African flavor with robed desert warriors, giant worms and inspiring architecture. |

 Neverwinter Nights 2

 Publisher: Atari
 Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
 Genre: RPG
 Release Date: October 17

  	  | Code: | | While the single player roleplaying game may have dwindled in popularity, that doesn't mean that there aren't some great titles coming down the line. Top of our list right now is Obsidian Entertainment's follow up to BioWare's superlative Neverwinter Nights. The sequel maintains the same D&D roots of the original game but adds an even more exciting story, much better graphics (they have ceilings!) and loads of other updates. Even more awesome, players will be able to obtain and manage their own strongholds and eventually train their own armies. The social aspects of multiplayer gaming are well represented here and the comprehensive editor allows players to extend the fun indefinitely. |

 Phantasy Star Universe

 Publisher: SEGA
Developer: Sonic Team / Total Entertainment Software
Genre: RPG / Persistent Online RPG
 Release Date: October

  	  | Code: | | The game plants a 17 year old human named Ethan Waber in the lead role in PSU, which feels very similar to Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast. This time around gamers get a distinct single-player story mode in addition to a persistent online world. From what we've seen of the single player so far, it's pretty linear, but there are a number of things that can be modified on Ethan's character. Weapons and armor can be modded at shops, armaments can be synthesized from raw materials found in the field, and special clothing and apartment furnishings can be purchased. The action is entirely real-time, and the game provides players with a quick-access item selector to make switching between weapon sets easier. Check the object page for screens, video, and lots more information and impressions. |

 ArchLord

 Publisher: Codemasters
 Developer: NHN Games
Genre: Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game
 Release Date: October

  	  | Code: | | Everyone is looking for the next magical formula that drags along a payday approaching World of Warcraft. It's a tall order, but developers are certainly trying. One of the newest attempts is ArchLord which brings a new twist to MMOs by allowing players the chance to reach the exalted title of ArchLord along with all it brings. The catch is that only one person is allowed into that position at a time and that this person will have control over certain game systems that can alter the way the game plays for everyone else in the game world. Potential ArchLords will need to recruit guilds to help in their quest for supremacy as in order to claim the title, they'll have to capture and hold a castle against other major guilds and hundreds, if not thousands, of players. We're certainly curious about how successful this game feature will be. Given the game's upcoming release date, we should know before too long. |

 EverQuest II: Echoes of Faydwer

 Publisher: Sony Online Entertainment
 Developer: Sony Online Entertainment
Genre: Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game
 Release Date: November

  	  | Code: | | While a lot of the expansions and adventure packs for EQ have skewed towards one level grouping or another, SOE promises gameplay across all levels with their latest expansion. Twenty new adventure zones in classic Faydwer, including Lesser Faydark, Steamfont, and Kelethin will be included in the expansion giving homage to where the franchise started. Echoes will also introduce a new playable race called the Fae. These guys were always around in the background in the EQ franchise, but in the original EverQuest took a back role as one of the smaller and less significant races. Now they've taken over Kelethin after the wood elves abandoned it. Along with all of the new areas to adventure in, Echoes will also come with around 40 different new creatures, tons of new items, and complete new armor sets that offer bonuses when the entire set is together. |

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade

 Publisher: Blizzard
 Developer: Blizzard
Genre: Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game
 Release Date: November

  	  | Code: | | As the creators of the most popular massively multiplayer game to date, the folks at Blizzard have a lot of high expectations to meet with the continuing evolution of World of Warcraft. The Burning Crusade expansion pack is already one of the most anticipated titles of the year and will come with a large amount of content. New areas, including those beyond the Dark Portal from which the orcs attacked in the early RTS titles of the franchise, are only the tip of the iceberg with all sorts of new gameplay features and new Drenei and Blood Elf races. This will undoubtedly be one of the best sellers of the year and draw back some players whose interest waned. Of course, knowing the development cycles at Blizzard, there's a chance it could slip into December and possibly next year though they've got their sights set on November. |

 Sports Games

 FIFA Soccer 07

 Publisher: Electronic Arts
 Developer: EA Canada
 Genre: Sports
 Release Date: October

  	  | Code: | | The FIFA series continues this fall with over 520 teams available to choose from. That's a hell of a lot. With a gaggle of licenses, soccer fans can be sure most of their favorite players and leagues are represented, as well as their sponsors. From what EA's shown so far, it seems the series is continuing its movement away from it's more arcade-like roots and toward a realistic, passing and position based gameplay system. With 07 there have been a number of shooting, passing, and ball physics tweaks in an attempt to give the game a more organic, fluid feel. Graphics seem largely the same as last year's release, though the sound has been noticeably augmented. With the changes being made, it'll be interesting to see how FIFA fares against the Konami competition this year. |

 NBA Live 07

 Publisher: Electronic Arts
 Developer: EA Canada
 Genre: Sports
 Release Date: September

  	  | Code: | | Electronic Arts is planning to deliver a more simulation-like experience with NBA Live 07. According to Producer Brian Ullrich, "Last year I felt like the game was a little too frantic and arcady so this year we have worked hard to create a game that is more authentic to the NBA game experience." Live! 07 promises some new game mechanics for basketball fans, including Freestyle Superstars and Total Freestyle Control. These systems allow players to use their superstars in specific ways, highlighting certain abilities. Superstars will also have individualized moves, meaning Tracy McGrady won't dunk they same was as Lebron James. To read more on EA's latest foray into the virtual NBA, click the link. |

 NHL 07

 Publisher: Electronic Arts
 Developer: EA Canada
 Genre: Sports
 Release Date: September

  	  | Code: | | With the new dimensions of the rink and NHL rules, hockey is a faster game these days. As such, teams are dumping the puck forward, relying on speed skaters to get behind the defense and make something happen -- one of the reasons Ovechkin is on the cover this year. With NHL 07's new passing system, you can now take advantage of these young players by dumping the puck, switching players and sprinting down the ice to receive the puck. While certainly not revolutionary, the passing does beat the canned animations in NHL 06, and it certainly helps capture this new style of hockey in the NHL. For more on EA's upcoming hockey title, be sure to visit the object page linked above. |

 GTR 2

 Publisher: 10Tacle Studios
 Developer: SimBin Development Team
 Genre: Racing Simulation
 Release Date: September

  	  | Code: | | GTR 2 hopes to please simulation racing fans in a few ways. One of them is improved AI. You can set multiple aggression levels before the race, and now lapped cars will get out of your way. What's perhaps most important, however, is that the computer-controlled opponents won't "know" the track and complete it perfectly every time. Their virtual brains will have as clean of a slate as you do. In terms of graphics, the old rendering core has been rebuilt from scratch to include things like a true day/night cycle, real-time ambient lighting, and specular highlighting on the roads to give some added texture. Players can also look forward to a Driving School to hone skills, Ghost Time Trials, and Proximus 24H, a four-day event that ends with a round-the-clock race (which is where the new day-night cycle and dynamic weather effects will flex their muscles). |

 Test Drive Unlimited

 Publisher: Atari
 Developer: Eden Studios
 Genre: Persistent Online Racing
 Release Date: October

  	  | Code: | | Test Drive's focus is its online play, something Atari is describing as Massively Open Online Racing (M.O.O.R.). Whether or not that classification sticks is an entirely different matter, but what it attempts to describe is certainly interesting. TDU takes place on over 1000 miles of highway on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The idea behind play online is to drop thousands of players into a server and let them interact in sandbox style play. As you race around the huge, open environments you'll be able to participate in online only time trials and races against other opponents, as well as challenge particular opponents by flashing your headlights at them. Desperate Housewives

 Publisher: Buena Vista Games
 Developer: Liquid Entertainment
 Genre: Simulation
 Release Date: October

  	  | Code: | | The best way to describe this game based on the hit TV show is "Sim-like" in terms of style and gameplay dynamics…but don't be deceived. Under the hood are the makings of a game which could very well appeal the core audience of the show, and more importantly, bring the much-desired female demographic to the forefront of gaming. For any of you who have played The Sims you will feel right at home with the interface. Although it looks very close to a Sim title, this engine has been built from the ground up for Desperate Housewives: The Game. Not only does this cut down on licensing fees, it allows them to build in-game advertising right into the heart of the game. It may not be a game for the hardcore, but there's undoubtedly some appeal from the TV crowd that wants to be part of the backstabbing and dirt flinging. |

 Sid Meier's Railroads!

 Publisher: 2K Games
 Developer: Firaxis
 Genre: Simulation
 Release Date: October 23

  	  | Code: | | Sure, we've seen plenty of Civilization versions over the years but many other titles in Sid Meier's catalog deserve modern remakes. Following on the success of Pirates! the team at Firaxis have turned their attention to Sid's sixteen-year-old Railroad Tycoon franchise. Titled Sid Meier's Railroads!, the new game will offer the same level of personality and convenience seen in Firaxis's recent titles. Players will have to build tracks, buy locomotives and cars, and set their routes through a variety of maps and scenarios. Other railroad barons are competing for the same profits you are so you'll have to buy low and sell high and try to secure as much of the market as you can. If your stock price drops too low, your competitors can step in and buy you out. |

 The Sims 2 Pets

 Publisher: Electronic Arts
 Developer: Maxis
 Genre: Simulation
 Release Date: October 17

  	  | Code: | | The original Sims expanded with a pets pack that brought loveable pals to the quirky simulated people. The sequel is following suit with it's own animal lover expansion pack also called Pets. This expansion adds in a lot of new pet-centric content including cats and dogs that can be created and customized just like the humans already in your houses. Pets aren't controllable like people, but have the same basic needs. Needs like hunger need to be given by human sims while socialization can be taken care of by other animals. If left unattended the pound might come and pick up your sad animals or you may find that furniture serves as a release for pent up energies. Along with cats and dogs, sims will be able to pick up other pets in cages from the local animal store. Those looking for companions for their sims should look to pick this one up. |

					| Is there a point in making twenty topics about the same thing? You do it for 2006/2007, then you dupe it onto different months, and now this? Redundancy in practice? | |

Never thought they'd do another one of Postal. Might be fun

  	  | Quote: | | Postal 3 the sequel to Postal², developed by Running With Scissors, Inc. and scheduled for release for the Xbox 360 and PC in the first quarter of 2008. It is currently under the working title of POSTAL 3: Catharsis
While few details have been released, Postal 3 is said to feature different "murderer lifestyles", including serial killer, eco-terrorist, and presidential candidate.

Based on an interview with Steve Wik and Vince Desi , The Dude emigrates to Paradise's sister town of Catharsis. It has also been revealed that the Postal 3 video game will not be based on the Unreal engine. The new engine that shall power Postal 3 is rumoured to be Valve's Source engine, the same engine that powered Half-Life 2

and this topic is not a bad idea - i really don't want to go through the sticky and find the fall section if I can just see it in a new topic. You guys act like the servers will blow up if someone starts a new topc - it'll all just go away in a couple of days anyway.

					| Stop giving Vladi shit for creating useful threads, the sticky is a very good resource as well as this thread, hell I'd sticky this one if we didn't already have so many. Consider this a condensed list.
