Other than the assfucking and cocksucking that you mentioned, I was just playing this mission too, what a coincidence. I did it on the third try, and that very last try took me 3 hours. I really liked how difficult it was and how much time it took. Although it was frustrating at first, I grew more and more excited as I got going and built up my defenses well enough to start a frontal assault.
This is what made this mission really special, the fact that you can't go forward without making sure you first have control of the lower-half of the map to avoid any surprise attacks and flanking.
3 hours. Damn. That was nice.
EDIT: 15 missions make for a short campaign? Hell, if the rest are quite as difficult as this one, I'll have hell of a time playing them.

about that mission i am stuck too
after i complete the first objective i cant find a stratgy that works.
tried destroying the axis base or whatever that is the objectived is completed but they keep building their base.
tried to return to my base but then they take the fuel and ammo points. whats the best way to beat this level? |
you need to be defensive in this battle. It took me about an hour and a half to finish. After rescuing the soldiers in the house, get all of your units back to the headquarters you are given near the bottom of the map. Don't worry about their headquarters right now.
Make a couple more engineer units and have one start working on a weapons support center. Have another one start creating a mine field in and around the road, and have another start building sandbag walls around your base. Leave enough room between the walls and your headquarters so you can build more structures later on. After the sandbag walls are done you might think about building some tank traps all the way around your base, but make sure you leave a wide enough space so your tanks can get out.
Once the weapons support center is done, make 2 or 3 units of machine gunners and 2 or 3 mortars. set them up behind the sandbag walls, but be careful of where (don't put mortars in the front where they'll be blown up instantly, put them at the back of the base because they have range).
This part is important: Work on getting the anti-tank guns as soon as possible so you can set them up behind the sandbag walls and take out anything that gets past the mines. The AT guns seriously own everything exept infantry. get 4 or 5 if possible. Have them cover every direction you've been attacked from. Have the machine gunners cover the AT guns from infantry attacks.
Capture the points close to your base with one unit and have the tanks you got at the beginning STAY THERE so you keep the point. After you get enough points build a supply yard, then a tank factory and start cranking out tanks. Once you have 5 or 6 shermans, you can pretty much roll over the whole map.

The Swedish PCGamer - FOW: 90% COH:92%
Review of CoH and FoW side by side:
Looks:
CoH wins.
Why? Just more beautiful, even if it requires a badass puter.
Story:
CoH wins.
Why? Feels like a genuine background story with extremely good implementation of voiceacting and midsequences.
AI:
FoW wins.
Why? Morale, act upon situation and are less dependant on specific orders.
Multi:
CoH wins.
Why? Quick, beautiful and dramatic.
Challenge (?):
FoW wins.
Why? Two games are seldom alike. Keep thinking, harder.
Replayability:
FoW wins.
A better SP campaign with greater variation.
Sound:
CoH wins.
Why? Everything top class, from background sounds to musik and voices.
Conclusion:
FOW is better as far as SP is concerned.
COH is better as far as MP is concerned.
