STALKER looks to be a good zombie/mutant game if it ever lives to get released. Also, They Hunger was an awesome zombie mod for HL, especially the first one.
Doom 3 had zombies, but D3 was more an action game than horror imo.
Also try call of cthulhu
fear the led zeppelin that was!

stalker doesn't have zombies
call of cthulhu doesn't have zombies
hl2 doesn't have zombies - just those weird guys with crabs on their heads, which are kind of fun, but not zombies

Resident Evil games, which are for pc, are shit. Really. Camera angles. Shit story. Lousy game play. They're not good. You're all clouded with the great console versions. But on pc, there's really not a good resident evil game. RE2? It was shit. Face it. RE3? Just better graphics. RE? hah. Yeah. Nostalgia.
FPS zombie games are shit. They may look nice and spiffy, but they're shit. True shit. There's no fun in a fps zombie game. You're killing for the sake of killing. Might as well play doom3, as it is the best "zombie" game to date. 
Dead Island looks like shit to be honest. There’s no fun in running in a fps just to shoot zombies. There’s no actual fear in there. Third person would’ve been a lot better. It just adds character. FPS just makes it worthless in my opinion. It doesn’t make it special at all. Just ugly decayed models that you have to shoot to survive.  Run and shoot. In 3rd person you use your enviroment to escape, in first person you only see what's infront of you and you end up running there. Then you turn and blast the 'zombies'
Stubbs was the B-Movie zombie game we all wanted. It's just that its style and humor did not appeal to everyone. It made me laugh out loud. To be honest. I never had more fun playing a zombie game. Really. It was great. It was pretty much the only decent game I've actually finished. RE games had nothing compared to stubbs. You just wandered through the locations. Going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth and it got boring. It did scare the shit out of you, as any scary game would, with those bump in the night scares, but other than that RE games were nothing special.
Stubbs on the other hand had the game play, had the gore, had the humor and for fucks sake it was actually decent!
Stubbs is just like ravenous when it came out. People expected it to be something else and they were disappointed with what it was. I personally loved it.

Can't believe no one mentioned Condemned Criminal Origins... It has a great story and it is very scary. Infact I think it was the only game that has frightened me even a bit... Combat is great fun! There's nothing like swinging a pipe or an axe over someone's head and hearing the "plunk" sound of his skull shattering, lol...

condemned was interresting in that it had VERY limited projectile weapons and you could always get a melee weapon off of almost anything
it had some good ideas, but no cigar
and no zombies, although it had a lot of melee junkies, which were pretty much the same thing anyway

"Condemned: Criminal origins" though not exactly zombies it was an experience playing through that game, one which I will remember for times to come.
