Has anyone ever used Partition Magic before. Did anyone have problems with it? Would you recommend using it or any other partition making software?

The times i used it, it worked great and no problems.
On the other hand, lots of people have troubles with it causing to loose important partitions.
So try at your own risk.

always worked great for me aswell for conversions and resizes
however, there are some free alternatives online somewhere, that supposedly are more reliable

Only downside, it doesn't resize partitions for Windows Server 2003, so for that you can use Acronis Disk Director Server.

Partition Magic is working with Server 2003, you have to use the Boot Media, you can't install it within the OS itsself. Also you have to be careful with enycrypted or compressed partitions and dynamic volumes in general, in other words don't tamper with partitions if your server is already in production, use the windows tools in that case.

Are you using Powerquest Partition Magic v8.0 or Symantec Partition Magic v8.05 (after symantec bought powerquest)?

so in other words it doesn't work with w2k3, but the computer as a whole, seperate from the OS
i've been using Acronis Partition Expert 2003 on w2k3 myself
there's probably newer versions
haven't read up on that disk director thingy

works fine. but try to use it in a fresh and clean windows install... you may experience some problems after the space of the hdd is more used, such as PM doesn't do its job. other than that, i've never lost anything.
i use PM and Norton Ghost combined. works GREAT. i have a image of my C: drive WORK directory updated weekly into another drive... so, if i want to do a fresh Windows install, i only restore Ghost... 10 minutes, and new, with all my work up to date....

I should metion that I am running Windows XP Pro, Windows 98 Se, and Redhat on the same computer? I am running out of space on XP primary partition and wanted to allocate more space from Windows 98 primary partion. Is it advisable to use Partition Magic in this case?

When you say file losses, do you mean a couple of files might be lost or a hard drive crash where all the files will be lost?
