I used to be terrible at maths too and the worst part was that because I was bad at it I developed a fear of it which in turn prevented me from spending any time on it. A downward spiral as opposed to subjects in which we excel and love spending time on leading to improvement. Got some extra tuition from a friend's uncle and just the embarassment of the fact that I needed extra help forced me to overcome my fear of it. Guess the embarassment was the greater of the two evils. I never excelled at math or even got comfortable with it but I guess you just have to 'fake it till you make it'. I rember getting a 10 on a maths exam (the only time btw) where nobody else got a 10. I felt like a king on that day.

Math come really natural to me. Calculus and transforms were my stongest subjects. Well everything electrical can be represented mathematically. My worst subjects were humanities and English. in Uni i had at least 2 math or math based courses every semester, for 9 semesters.
