What do you do at the end of a long, rough day to get away from the things that trouble you? Grab a brew? Light one up? Play your favorite game? Sex? Reading? Anything you do to take your mind off things list em here and how/why they work for ya.
Not much works for me. The most effective way to take my mind off things is a movie or tv.

Nothing works for me.
Unless I find one of those rare occasions where i have a really sick videogame or i get into a movie i havent seen before.
But that rarely happens.
Why do you think I have insomnia? I have problems relaxing to the point of sleep

Mars Volta. Max Volume.
Queen. Max volume.
Or going into the bathroom with the lights off and sitting in cold water. With outside noise canceling headphones.

Does your mind race when you are lying in bed and suddenly you find its like 6am and you have to get up soon? Recently I've been having a huge problem with this.
@Waldo - Music is pretty good sometimes but usually just makes me think so much more.
It might depend on the music.

Isn't it tho? It's calming. I wouldn't say it's relaxing. I relax shorly after I'm calm.

Yeah man. Thats exactly what happens (i think i mentioned it in my insomnia thread).
I'll start out thinking about some specific and then branch off into anything and everything. And then it gets to the point where im trying to sleep so much im keeping myself awake...its so fucked up man
Its stress.
You must have something on your mind. Whether its a concious (sp?) thought or not.

Yea man, I miss the summer. Spent my days working my ass off, nights with good friends, slept like a baby. With school it's a whole different story.

what works for me is just sitting back in my chair with a book and classic music. that really relaxes me and gets my mind off of things that bother me or pissed me off during the day. its hard to believe that i listen to classic, because im an old school metal guy

For me it's watching cartoons or playing a video game. The cartoon has to be be silly like the Simpsons,Family Guy, Futurama, or Spongebob and the game has be one where i get to shoot something. I would love to talk to all those head-up-their-asses politicians who say violent games causes violence. In my case it prevents it.

Having a wank.
Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

I was just thinking, exercise really gets the job done as well. Mainly running, football, ultimate frisbee...

Reading really does help. It allows you to focus on what you've just read while you're trying to get to sleep. Keeps your thoughts in check.
I find watching a familiar DVD also helps, but it has to be one i've watched before otherwise my mind gets too active.
