Get a joystick. There is absolutely no fun playing it otherwise.

What I miss most about the flight sims is realistic landscapes. Most that I've seen are not worth a shit. Some might say that it's about the flying, but to me that's only half of it.

Hmm, I guess. Isn't it possible to take a satellite picture and create the landscape from that? I mean Google Earth is fine for that

Not sure if that is possible in MSFS, but it is in X-Plane. But even if combined with the most accurate topographical data available, it wont create a realistic landscape that you seem to be looking for.

It's better looking, more optimized, and more realistic.

Yeah, Plain vanila then X-Plane is more realistic, but once MFS is loaded with addons then x-plane is not even close to the realism fs9/fsx comes.

"Loaded" . What that means is that you have to rely on numerous 3rd party addons to fix someting that shouldnt be broken in the first place.
I really dont want to get into this. I've done it before, and nothing good ever comes out of these conversations.

Actually yes, no flight nutt have ever looked at MFS for realism on its own and MS have never claimed that is what they aim to do. If you look at the ACES teams thinking then MFS is made in cooporation with the addons devs so that it makes it easier for them to mod and make highly realistic addons. Thats why MFS always came with SDK for the addon makers to use.
That doesnt mean its broke. Just means MS don't pretend to do soemthing that simply isnt possible for one company to do alone....which is making so highly complicated addons as the dedicated addon companies do.
SO MS supplies the engine and the addon companies suppl the addons.
I prefer that over x-plane where its the same company that makes it all and then u have 2342423324 freeware addons that dont even reach addon developers like PMDG or Level D simulations to it's knees. And as an X-plane fan you should recognize the name PMDG since they started in X-Plane and made the prob only worth mentioning plane addon ever for x-plane the PMDG 777, but they desided to move on to MFS.

who cares, but this is FSX topic so quit talking about Xplane already. if you really have to keep saying how great xplane is and how much FSX sucks then go make a damn xplane topic.

Why not? ppl do that all the time!
People praise Neverwinter Nights to death, yet as soon as NWN2 comes out they will bash that one to hell just as they did with NWN, waaah its unbalanced, waah this and that sucks, waah too few creatures etc etc etc.
Yet they whine about how good NWN was, when its the mods they liked, not the game
But ontopic, i do think FSX looks better than X-Plane in terms of pure gfx, but wouldnt it be sweet if it looked like Just Cause? Smooth clouds (alot of the clouds in the demo were really odd looking sometimes), the water, everything

Nah the fun is just, its actually not like other games. The fun part is like in poker or card games for example, the fun comes from the voyage itself, taking it easy and relaxing.
Just flying around looking at the scenery, having a bite to eat, surfing the web or chatting while you'r passing the atlantic lol =D
Its hard to explain really
