I currently have a Core2Duo and GeForce 7950 FX2 (pretty much in the best pc nowadays)

I tried maxing everything out, I get around 7-11FPS. Here is a screenshot:

It's not bad, but I really tough ground texture would look better, this is like a 512x512 texture stretched to fill the ground, and it's the best shot I could find!! Anyway I won't complain, the only thing I wanna know is what is the magical display property should I lower to get FPS without loosing too much image quality?

FLight Unlimited III offered more of a feeling of flight and more topography than this 12 gigabyte beast of shit from Microshaft. ATC chatter, dynamic weather, missions. The ground textures look like turds. Kludgy interface zapping back out to windows. So crappy, it makes me want to watch Seig Heil again! Funny as my grandma's ass.

This game stinks....

no SLi support, Dual Core support, not optimize.

Even with a decent 7800gtx SLi and AMDx2 ... this game still sucks lousy graphics....

Who said it wasnt good enough? Personally I think its ok - but I would like to see better graphics still. As the game requires alot of cpu and it cost alot, atleast one would expect a BIT better graphics. I guess with dx10 it looks much better - but that doesnt really help me now does it?

Edit: Also, there arent many good simulators out there (apart from the 2 billion fighter simulators) so its not like if I have much choice if I wanna play this kind of game.

Edit2: Also quite anoying - if you check the game's box you will notice excellent graphics...graphics that atm doesnt seem possible due to the non-avaible direct x drivers/cards.

Turn everything to minimum. Crank up the resolution, turn up the stock texture resolution to very high and then start turning things on slowly VERY SLOWLY upwards. You may be surprised. Don't get ambitious and turn everything up that you WANT up because it won't work like that I'm afraid Sad

You have to do this otherwise your experience will be real shitty because it feels and chugs along like a bitch.

Not sure I understand what you said.. are you saying that graphics are not good? Have u tried the game to MAX DETAILS? If you answer yes to this, tell me your system specs and im going to buy the exact same cpu tomorrow.

Morevoer, we ain't talking about 1 region (like Fly II), we are talking about the world! Some regions are done way better than others tho.

ALSO, and this is important, in couple of months you will see addons poping-up, terrain, planes, boats etc etc.

I really enjoy the missions, for now, as part of my learning curve to this new version. But soon enough I'll be back to fly long distances in my boeing, so terrain is not really important unless im on takeoff or landing. At 33k feets, you dont see much but clouds..

Thats exactly what Im saying. Im using a 3.8ghz amd 2x and a gf7800gtx. And the graphics are quite bad. I turned everything on max and it looks still quite bad (and really low fps). Why would you wanna buy the exact same system btw?

I think those excellent screenshots we've all seen are from the dx10 version.

But the game is still damn good, but I just wish it had some eyecandy instead of the quite sucky graphics it got.

The graphics are quite awesome, technically, not artistically.
Microsoft games usually are like that, technical skills beyond anything else Smile

what tells you it aint somekind of marketing strategy? When MS2004 was released, I wasnt able to run the game full details, 3-4 years later I was still enjoying the game because i was able to see it at its full potential while i was upgrading my cpu pieces by pieces.

When a game of that kind, with no real goal but free roaming everywhere, I think their strategy is legitimate ; I will be able to enjoy this game more and more over the next 3-4 years.
