You might want to get your eyes checked there champ. Or maybe try playing the game on recent hardware. The depth-of-field effect is awesome and the enviroment just looks and feels alive.

Are you on crack? The 'depth of field' effect is basically blurry backgrounds with horrible pop in / up. The lack of AA means everything is covered in jaggies. The shadows appear and disappear for no reason too. Even inside the cave near the beginning the textures are crap and theres still piss poor performance.

Oh and i thought the enviroment was 'alive' when I got stuck inside a table.

P.S. my two 7800GTX's say 'FU'! Very Happy

where is there english reviews?

I think its really suss that the only reviews are German praising a German product.
I bet once the English reviews start appearing it gets slated.

HDR is a nice little effect whereas AA is a necessity even on my 20" Dell for this game.

dont worry guys im sure they will fix the bugs and enhance performance in weeks to come,.. though they should not have released it yet, if it is so buggy and not optimized as people say ,.. I mean I thought anyone with two 7800GTX's should play any damn game that is out, even in a year or two, to come,.. maxed out, butter smooth in 140+fps,.I hope I can run it smooth on medium with patches Smile.... this pc gaming is getting totaly fxked up!! What do they expect gamers to buy a new pc for 2000usd every year?

theres many dungeons or rather caves, and yeah, some 0f them have multiple levels. Gothoc1 and 2 already had those as well.

Are they randomly generated or hand picked. I think i read all of Gothic is designed not generated like Oblivion. Also, is loot dispersed by hand to certain places ie: you get what you deserve as a reward?

all hand made and pre defined loot. Not as much dungeons as in oblivion, the action takes more place outside, theres loads of wildlife, wolf packs, small herds of animals etc. All got there own AI, you can watch them go hunt when they're hungry. They have a days routine like npcs, they sleep at night etc.

I am really digging this depth of field. It's immersive. I can't imagine I would ever say I like "blurry" lol, but it just works!

That's from the land of Yyaajn according to tinyurl. Somehow that sounds more lucasesque with the repeating vowels. (kidding so don't correct me, please)

Why not just force AA/AF in the control panel, works fine here.
(Funny, Oblivion has AA but no AF and Gothic3 has AF but no AA)

The graphics are good enough since it's about gameplay and immersion instead of pretty effects and visuals. (Game still looks good though)

But not everyone will like the game and that's fine with me.

I've been playing for the last 16 hours, and i'm about to feint from exhaustion, but the game is so good, the schemes you can think of and execute watch events unfold almost as you predicted, the living environment, the feeling of progression....
If you consider yourself an avid rpg player then your doing yourself a disservice by not getting this rough gem quicker than you can say Baldurs gate.
Don't listen to dl2004, most of the issues he raised can be fixed with some quick ini editing or smarter configuration of the ingame settings contra your system.
"Gay" is not a valid argument.
