Im 27 and still get spots! Granted, nowhere near as bad as I used to be but it bothers me so much! I spend £15-£20 per month on lotions and potions and just as I get rid of one or two, another one replaces it! Its like a goddamn curse! I usually get them on my forehead. They are never the yellow puss filled ones I used to get in my mid teens but tend to be just red and angry looking. I do pick at them occasionally which I know I shouldnt and usually because I think it will help but I always end up regretting it. I dont particularly think myself as good looking or anything but I am so self concious of my appearance that the spots really piss me off. I have googled and checked out all the best websites before anyone goes posting me links. I just thought someone might have their own experiences and recommendations, advice, tips or anything! lol.

Tea tree oil is the best. (it is not the kind of oil you are used too)

This is for an oily skin type.

1. Get a face wash with it, use it 2 times a day, morning and night.
2. exfolation is good if you don't have sensitive skin. This gets rid of dead skin in which the zit causing bacteria like to live.
3 you probably don't need lotions. Lotions are more for dry skinned people.
4 get a bottle of the essential oil of Tea tree. Use it on indivudual spots and it will dry them out and they will heal faster. You can also use toothpaste at night, that drys them out too.

15-20 sounds like a lot. Your products should last 2 --3 months at least.

PS don't play with them unless they are ready to pop, use a clean pin. You end up with scars.

Try "The Body Shop" you have that in the UK. Go for their tea tree line. Bring in a film container and they should give you a sample of the face wash to see if you like it. Their tea tree products are good.

Thanks for your reply!

I have seen tea tree products in the shops but I normally buy Clearasil or Clean & Clear. Im not convinced any of it works and it does not last me 2 - 3 months lol. I apply exceptionally generous amounts lol. When I said lotions I just said it to rhyme with potions. I dont use any lotions on my face. Very Happy

Someone else told me about toothpaste. For the last few nights I have been going to bed with a toothpaste face mask lol. They are not really the types that are ever going to pop. They are just red but there is nothing in them.

What do you mean by sensitive skin? How do I know if I have sensitive skin? I see sensitive skin variations of the face wash products I buy. I just wish someone wouild review them all since its so confusing and there are so many different brands it annoys me!

I normally buy from a shop called Superdrug or Boots. There is a Body Shop on the same street.

is your hair dangling over your forehead? well when you got fatty hair or don't wash it regularly it might irritate your skin.

I shower 2 or 3 times a day and wash my face in a morning and at night! I do have longish hair but its not usually greasy! Can lack of sleep be a cause? I dont normally get any more than 4 hours sleep a night. I dont own any hats and I wouldnt say I eat junk food either so I dont think its a diet issue!

You would know already if you had sensitive skin. Basically it reacts (gets red, irritated) to certain products you use.

Clearasil/clean & clear really dries your skin out and you don’t want that either. Because then you end up with more flakey skin that is going to breed bacteria and clog pores. I used the clean & clear once for a week and it dried even my skin out and I am oily oily oily.

You don’t need to apply generous amounts. More isn’t better. You just need enough for a lather.

You probably don’t need a toothpaste mask. Just dap toothpaste on the zit. The is a great tea tree oil mask too. I liked it myself because it sucked the oil outta my face but really I can’t say if it improved my skin in terms of zits. I get maybe 3 zits a year. My last one was up my nose. I could hardly smile it was painful my eyes would water.

Tanning also helps with zits. 1 day a week for 10 mins or so.

Touching your face during the day can also cause you to break out because it adds dirt and oil to your skin. Pillows are HUGE. Change your pillow case every 2nd day. Pillows collect oil and spread it over your face. Hair hanging on the face. That is probably why your forehead breaks out. From your bangs.

You would know already if you had sensitive skin. Basically your skin reacts (gets red, irritated) to certain products you use.

Products that are labelled as hypo allergenic or for sensitive skin means that they are formulated with ingredients that are known to not cause reactions. All products for babies are in this category as well. This doesn’t mean that someone won’t have a reaction, it just means they are less likely too.

A lot of times these products will promise the world and their advertising invents all these catch phases and false technology to trick you into buying their product. I have a expensive fancy face cleaning soap and I use it rarely. Most of the time I just wash my face in the shower with shampoo and scrub it with a skin towel. I could wash my face with cement and it would be fine.

edit:
I don't believe diet has anything to do with breaking out.

I don't know if it could be lack of sleep. I'd guess it's possible.
I'd guess even with your hair being washed a couple times a day its still fairly oily. Hair always is.
I suggest drinkinkg a lot more water if possible. That supposedly keeps your pours pretty clean and your skin smooth.

Wow! Thanks for that Pistolshrimp! Some good information there! So you're not oily. You're not even oily oily. You're oily oily oily. haha that made me laugh!

Well I guess I dont have sensitive skin then. My face has never had a reaction to anything Ive used on it. I will get some of the tea tree products and stop using my Clearasil and Clean and Clear. Thats a bit odd really because Clearasil is one, if not the biggest name in spot prevention products. Im not sure about tanning. I dont want to go too OTT. No offense but I am not a woman lol.

I dont change my pillow case that often but I will do so now. I dont understand what you mean when you say from my bangs! Confused

lol sorry it was just the prostitute comment! you might be right there but I dont think washing 2 or 3 times a day is overwashing. I will look into trying that nivea stuff you mentioned. Thanks. This could be more expensive than I thought! lol. So tea tree products, vitamins, nivea wash off cleansing gel and probably some bottled water instead of the usual soft drinks I buy. Well I have plenty to go on there! Smile

(tea tree is also antibacterial, which means it kills most but not all of the bacteria

By bangs I mean your hair that rests on your forehead.

That clearasil is meant for kids, early teens. Even then that stuff still dried their face out. Your skin has something called ‘normal flora’ in which good bacteria work to keep your skin healthy. Clearasil strips off that protective layer. I don’t know anybody that uses it. I think it solely exists because of marketing. Usually it is staph. bacteria that causes zits.

I don’t think lack of sleep with give you zits. it will affect the skin around your eyes and skin tone. Variations in hormone levels can cause them, that is why teens get more.

I have been using the sauna everyday. Sweating like crazy. I have noticed an improvement with my skin, that it is softer. Sometimes I get super tiny ones or I get little bumps on my arms. That has improved but it could be the chorine too.

Water is good for your skin in general, keeps your skin young but I don’t think it has anything to do zits.

I have a nurse friend that loves popping zits and black heads on her patients. These people let her. They are 70 yrs plus. She squeezes out a 2 inch line outta their back. It is so gross, I had to leave the room.

Oily skin is awesome. you take a shower. you take a showerhead and you wet your hair. water drips down your face. down your nose. and it tickles. Hehe. Makes me shake my head. it feels weird.

I got acne problem all the time. No matter what I use they come back. I had this facial cleanser thing my sis bought me long ago. It worked for a while but by the end of the day I had these huge bulges filled with puss ready to explode. Sad

Waldo you do not have a zit problem. Unless you photoshoped them outta your splended picture.

raised spots on the outside of the arms and sometimes even the thighs, may suggest need for magnesium, vitamin A, or essential fatty acids or the need to avoid foods that inhibit the absorption of these nutrients, such as trans-fatty acids found in margarine and hydrogenated oils, such as cottonseed oil and palm kernel oil.

Picture was taken at 11:20 am.

No zits at that time. I get zits in the morning. Pop them. Use hard soap and scrub. No outbreaks for a couple hours. They start to develop at 4 - 6 pm when my skin gets dirtier and dirtier. I get home at 8/9. hard wash my face. Scratch the little zits off. The ones that are scratchable (y’know the ones? The dry ones). Pop the poppable ones. And then I wash again. Shave the dirty skin off. Put on lots of extra strong aftershave and go to sleep. Smile Wake up. Pop a few. Wash. Leave for school.

Rinse and repeat. I do have an acne problem. I just deal with it. Very Happy
