lol I had absolutely no idea where to put this thread so its here in the useless void but hopefully it wont be too useless to me!

Ok so my 18 month contract on my Nokia 6680 finished. I went into town to get me a new phone. They didnt have a great deal to choose from I have to say. I wanted the Nokia 7 series but its not available and has apparently had a lot of software faults. So they recommend me the 6280 which looks quite nice I have to say. The one thing I dont like about it is its a slide phone. I hate slide and flip lol. Oh and also the fact that I cant use my 512mb reduced MMC card with it and I have to buy a miniSD card!

Anyway I decided to get it and I can have it and bring it back within 14 days if I dont like it so I have it to trial. Just as Im signing the paperwork etc, I notice a flyer on the wall advertising a Sony Ericsson w850i in WHITE and its apparently decent for mp3 since it has "WALKMAN" written all over it. Im like woah I like that! They tell me they have the phone in stock in both black and white so I have been seriously considering getting that one in the next few days, even though that one is also a slide phone! This poll may help me decide!

Does anyone have either the Nokia 6280 or Sony Ericsson w850i and can comment on either or compare the two?

i have nokia 6280 Razz
the problem is it doesnt have good speaker Sad
but i like it Smile
it got 2.0 mega pixels
3 generation
good menu
and as i sayed its good one only bad speaker Sad

I thought the sound quality was quite good but I agree, its not that loud either.

I have a SE 810i



I really like it, but this is the new 'it' phone that the biggest phone company is pushing. I see people EVERYWHERE with the same phone Sad

I use it everyday to listen to music on the subway... so it's quite functional as a music player Smile

This SE 850 has stereo bluetooth (mine doesn't), which is pretty cool -- you can stream the music wirelessly in stereo Razz The nokia doesn't have A2DP, so you can only stream mono audio ...

I have a Nokia 6233. Great telephone. The 6280 has many software bugs and the slide machanism is not very good!!

nope, the 850i is newer Razz

it is basically the same as 810i except the 850i has stereo bluetooth, 3GP vid conferencing, walkman 2.0 player, slider ...

I'd trade my 810i for an 850i in a second Razz

Hmmm I can see me swapping the 6280 for the w850i. Theres just something about this Nokia that I dont like.

3 out 5 for the Nokia 6280

Woah! The w850i supports the same memory cards as the PSP! I have a few of those spare which means I wont have to fork out for a new memory card!

There really is no comparing the two any more and my mind is made up. The only thing I need to decide is black or white! Very Happy

Meh, I love that phone (Sony Ericsson w850i).. But I got a new one not so long ago.. I'm totally sick of it though as its so freaking huge.. great phone but I have realised that a phone for me is about ease, not features. A mistake I will have to live with for another 12 months :'(!

ive got a palm treo 650. very usefull. my next phone, will be surely a palm again or a similar...

i can't use phones with slide mechanism, cose i always put it in my pockets, throw it at the cars back or front sit, places in were are always sand or stuff like sand... so, the slide mechanism gets fucked in a very short time... :S

Get the Ericsson! It's a no-brainer.

Stick in 2/4 Gig memory and it's great. Also has 3.2 megapixal camera & good zoom. On mine, I have shit loads of music, Family Guy Season 1+2, American Dad Season 1, Simpsons, Southpark etc. I only wish that they had higher res screens as cartoons are ok, but movies tend to suck Sad

Also, you can record video for like ever. Finally, the battery power lasts for ages. If you don't have an ipod, get this instead. Oh yeah, it's a phone too Very Happy

I dont understand how they come up with the model numbers for the phone. My old phone was a Nokia 6680 and the new one is a 6280. You would think the higher the number the better and newer the phone.

The choice is a no-brainer Very Happy

If you want to look fancy then get a Motorola, if you want to have everything in 1 pocket then get the Ericsson Wink

Just remembered, dunno if it's the same for all phones now, but the Sony works everywhere, including the states.

See if they have an Samsung D900, I love this phone. Easily the best on the market I reckon. Otherwise I would get a SE K800i, just because it's a fantastic all round phone rather then specializing in music playing.

I had a choice between these two and the fact that the D900 is beautifully compact and sleek won out as the K800i is a bit bulky.

I don't like slide, twist or clamshell phones. I like the simplicity of the K800i/k810i phones. But phones are like music or food. Just what you like really and know one can tell you any different.

There is no K810i, only a W810i. Correct me if i'm wrong.

The best phone I ever had was the 6680.

D900 looks too narrow for my liking. Dont like the dimensions at all.

Well I dont think you can buy the w850i handset yet. Not on the Vodafone network anyway. It is only available on contract at the moment and it is free! But obviously I will get a monthly bill for calls and I am stuck with it for 18 months but thats not so bad. Id choose contract over pay as you go any day!
