Well it seems like a worthy successor it certainly has that gripping 'one more turn' aspect which people who knows the genre is so familiar with, if you can get past the graphics which isn't 3d-eyecandy sure it's 3d, but it's no sword of the stars. The improved graphics is a nice change from the former game.
Thats my impression after trying it out for 30minutes

Well it was pretty simple to make a workaround for the steam verification
same method can be used as was used with sin episode 1 Wink
Does that qualify as a release? no of course it doesn't would need the original retail package for that, this is a steam game so it would only ever be a packaged directory which in my humble opinion is hardly a release.
Hfric: I already posted the cache info in the gothic 3 thread.

just extract this into your SE5 folder from steam
http://rapidshare.de/files/37151725/SE5steamcrackepsilon.rar.html
Then you won't need any kind of steam client to run it, I honestly don't care if anyone decides to package it and call it a release, cause it will never be a release just a packaged folder.
The retail version doesn't have any kind of this crappy protection though.

Not if your planning to play it in multiplayer, no not at this point, but if your looking to play a good singleplayer strategy game, it's money well spent cause theres alot of hours in this one.

Uhh. Well, that's great. You know it might actually be helpful if you could share your information. Instead of being asshats and posting cryptic bullshit. Contribute something useless for a change.

Cool game, grabbed it from one of the larger torrent sites here and it works just fine. (Seems the uploader just rar'ed the folder and put it up)

Would probably never pass as a scene valid release though.
(Aside from Provision and other steam groups, though those get nuked anyway)

Never was that good on these games but it's quite fun so far.

EDIT: Yes, it's the 1.08 patched version.

ahh yes. I just found it on the Swedish torrent site as well. It's about 321MB, and they are reporting that it has been patched with the latest update (1.08 - or 1.80.. I don't know)

Well played a little

It's a bit slow for my taste but the depth is there

Very strange there is no real retail release yet.. only the steam rip around which is fine (for now) but for new patches may became not usable

With a few patch it will be a great game.. most likely will buy it Smile

"Completely customizable game graphics: Create your own planets, stars, vehicles, etc"

I'm so gonna put all my custom made CGI planets into the game and some better looking / more realistic stars Smile
No more sucky gfx for me!! Unless of course the lighting itself cant be modded (like reducing the ambient lighting, which is WAY too high)

I wonder if the game supports my 2500x1250 textures Smile
Does it support specular maps/bump maps? Anyone know? Sure hope so, but its no biggie if not.

Is the game supposed to look like that even at 32-bit set in the setup screen before the game starts? :/
Or is something wrong? The planet textures look like that too, of course they are fuzzy cus its very low-res textures, but they look just as jagged as if they were on 16-bit mode Sad
This applies to every single texture i import into the game too, so my beautification mod is pretty hopeless until i figure out if its just me or if the game actually ALWAYS displays textures in 16-bit.

Edit: found some official screens which look the same, except for this one.
http://www.spaceempires5.com/en-US/node/259?size=_original
Thats how i want it to look, smooth and 32-bit'ish

Anyone? Smile

Well seeking the ISO for this game I've found this "release"!?!?!?!

Space.Empires.V-DVN

Does anyone can confirm if it exists?

Another thing....why all the releases of the Space Empires V are STEMP-rips???
Does it means that Steam doesn't deliver the Setup.exe to their customers?
Does anybody can explain me, please??

It would be GREAT if somebody can release an ISO, with installer and all that things in the CD.

Thanks in advance.
