Got it off of the newsgroups. It does run on NTSC systems too. It's kind of boring. Handling and graphics are decent but there isn't really much to do. I guess online might be more fun.

2 Ferrari and a circuit in the arcade mode - that's what you get in the demo.
Not a Burnout 3 killer but a decent looking arcade racer with a good game engine.
The Outrun mode will have 101 missions... sounds like lots of fun Very Happy

Shocked

Outrun 2 will be another great game,it isn't a burnout 3 crash game, but yet it will be a pure Arcade racer game with lots of Sega aftercare and fun!

ok checked it out a bit now.

good arcade racer. nice graphics, really nice sceenery. sega quality. to hear those old classic songs are almost enough for me to say its good, so yes im a bit biased. but overall a nice comback that seems to have developed good without taking away from the original too much.

the demo is very limited. you can only take the easy routes (left ones) in outrun-mode only, only choosing from 2 cars. so the real challenge is hard to tell about. aswell as the different modes, which i personaly think will be a blast.

ok, the game is not out for another month (?), so then there will be more demand for this game also. you know why...

im looking forward to it.

Well, i've played it in the arcade and i've played the demo. IMO this game should be a budget title. It's extremely primitive in every respect apart from the updated graphics which are nothing special either. It's nothing more than the same old 80's gameplay from the original Outrun in a new skin.

omg "primative"

yes i've also played the demo,i would'nt call it primative but a CLASSIC.

The demo should'nt be judged on its 3 easy course and two cars!

There is so much more under the hood as we all expect from sega, unlockable's different game modes,ect,ect.....that we have'nt seen yet!

Yes the game is from the 80's and cannot see how they could of changed it too much without losing that Outrun feeling, but what they have done is great and looking forward to getting the final game when released.

Also these bonus tracks are unlockable in final:
Bonus Track 1 - Daytona USA 2
Stage 1: Intermediate stage (Fun park)
Stage 2: Expert stage (City)
Stage 3: Beginner stage (Speeway Oval)

Bonus Track 2 - SCUD Race
Stage 1: Beginner stage Day (Bayside)
Stage 2: Beginner stage Night (Airport)
Stage 3: Intermediate stage (Asian culture - mountains, statues and
the like)
Stage 4: Expert stage (European culture - castles and lakes)

I'm not judging solely from the demo. I played it in the arcade aswell.

And yes it's primitive. If you think that this shite is an instant classic then you need your head looked at

It really depends on how old you are. For old gits like myself that grew up playing the original Outrun in the arcades, this is utterly amazing.

I hated Project Gotham Racing. Burnout 3 is good, but nothing different really from Burnout 2.

There is something magical about Outrun 2... worth buying an Xbox for I would say...But like I said, I'm an old git.... Kids will probably hate it !!!

No, i disagree. It doesnt depend on how old you are. I'm 29 years old, and have been gaming since long before outrun came out.

IMO it's a piece of shit. All it is is the original Outrun with new cars and updated graphics. All you do is drive through traffic untill you get to the end of a section and choose wether you want to go left or right...boooooooring. It's a format that died over a decade ago, and for good reason. Technology had surpased having to limit you games to such simplistic gameplay elements.

Sure i can imagine that there are a lot of people out there who want to relive their childhood gaming experiences with this piece of crap...but how long will it hold your attention for? Half an hour? An hour at the most? You can finish each route in 8-10 minutes or something like that, and i'm sure that you will finish the hardest route within 2 hours of booting it up for the first time, so wheres the value here exactly? Having played it i just can't see what all the excitement is about. Video gaming has moved on...it's just a pity that Sega hasn't, and in this case seem to be moving backwards.

sometimes the most simplistic games are the best, without these simplistic games we would'nt be where we are now,RMFX - your just a young pup,

yes it may be simplistic, but its better than some crap thats been churned out,its already be said that the arcade mode isn't where the main gameplay is,all games that are arcade game conversions are simplistic, thats why they add a ton of extra's.

i havent played burnout 3, i played 2 which sucked.
I tried this demo hoping for some wicked graphics and some fresh gameplay. I am disappointed. Sega have failed us for a the first time in a while. This game would have been average 5 years ago, but this kind of game cannot compete with the likes of PGR2, Burnout 3 (from what ive been told) SRS, N4SU(2).

The graphics are outdated on this game... I reckon this game was originally made for the dreamcast release or something!
The sound well, the engine sounds are okay but the music i hope is from the original game.. just sounds like a bunch of crappy midi files.
The handling is exactly the same as the original which might suit some peopel i guess but not me. Going 180mph over taking everything then dropping to 150mph and getting over taken by a coach isnt even arcadey!

This game as the durability of an egg and spoon. I wont be booting this game up again in a hurry.
Overall very disappointing, as it could have been so great.

PS (i was a fan of the original..)

I tried this demo hoping for some wicked graphics and some fresh gameplay,,i wasn't disappointed.Sega haven't failed us and have produced another classic. This game has brought Ourun right upto date, whilst not in the same vain as PGR2,Burnout 3,SRS,N4SU(2)

The graphics are excellent on this game...blah,blah,blah

The music is from the orginal game and the handling is excatly the same as the arcade mode.

Anybody remembering the orginal will not be disappointed in the great classic game.

Sega hasn't dissapointed with 101 Outrun 2 challanges,Sweethart Mode, Orgoinal arcade and, lots of unlockable tracks (7) and where else can you drive a whole bunch of ferraris

Nice!
