I would have bought it anyway. But the european release is at the 27th. Right now there is neither a demo, nor a european release nor a proper scene release. Kinda sucks.

Yeah I know, that's why I said direct2drive and not store Razz I live in europe as well. But I would like to try the game first before I go buy it (oh man, that sounds so corny when posting on a site like this)

I am not even sure direct2drive accepts downloads from europe.

It doesn't Direct2Drive doesn't care about europeans, moreover they encrypt all the game files causing all the games they sell to run like crap as the game has to decrypt it's data all the time while running it, not worth it even if you live in North America, wait for a scene release that works or wait till it gets released in Europe

I followed the instructions.. and it failed: "insert original instead of backup".

The most interesting thing is that the error message says "insert original instead of backup", instead of "insert original instead of pirated copy".

According to dictionary.com:

back‧up  /ˈbækˌʌp/
5. Computers.
a. a copy or duplicate version, esp. of a file, program, or entire computer system, retained for use in the event that the original is in some way rendered unusable.

So technically, that error message is wrong, since the backup should be used instead of the original without any hassle.

Lame-o-Meter of this post = high

I have been wondering why this game is getting so little attention. From my perspective just the name "Sid Meier" should warrant people to make a big fuss about it. Maybe people like Sid Meier do not have the reputation they once had. Or the attention of the computer gaming world has shifted more and more from people to brands.

Can anyone name the designer of GTA? I couldn't without googling.

I think it's because most designers don't put their name in the title. If the designer of GTA had titled it "Rick's GTA!" we'd all probly remember his name Smile

that may be true, but Will Wright never put is name in the titles but everyone know him, same thing with Peter molenyeux (I'm sure that I spelled that wrong).; I guess it's just a case of fading fame rather than a changing trend but I could be wrong

But we remember Sid for games like F-15 Strike Eagle or Pirates! which didn't carry his name at first.

funny thing is it doesnt work all the time, I need to try 3-4 times and suddenly it would start running. And I was wrong about the drives, it also starts from the cd writer.

Ok, I can confirm it, the repack works, but it is a pain to get it working.

1- I burned the image with BlindWrite 6 (the lastest version I could find), settings Automatic.
2- Used a cheap CD-RW disk and a LG DVD writer;
3- Disabled all devices in DT, and disabled all emulation;
4- Run the game without any loader.

It took me 15 tries, I think, in all of that I got either a timeout or a "replace with original" error. Suddenly, when I was almost giving up, the game launched.

HEre is proof:

Now, lets see if it was worthy... Hope it doesn't crash.

UPDATE: Played for 2 hours without problems (except for the laggy performance typical of Civ4)

well you might get it too work but its still time for a no-cd backup..
but ill give it yet another try.

the strange thing is the error it give's "replace with original" this is the same error whit most of the games. when you replace the exe whit a c***** then it works.

I can confirm that it works, but after like 30 tries... so it sucks big time! Game is not stable, and it crashed after 10mins of play...

listen, this version realy works, it justa takes betwen 10-30 times to click on game icon, so if u realy want to play, it can be done till the crack gets out.

p.s. game is not that good, i expected much more...
