frankly guys, this game is just not worth the hassle. Other than the satisfaction that I got the game to work, there was nothing in it for me. And I still have Railroad Tycoon 3 installed on my PC, now thats still the best railroad game!!!

I would rather decide by myself whether the game was worth the hassle. As for RRT3 being the best railroad game... It might be a good railroad economy game, but no train game has sofar surpassed the excellent Transport Tycoon Deluxe (which got even better with the Open TTD Project, that improved on the pathfinding and other issues).

Yup hope it finds its way on to usenet soon also.

By the way Transport Giant is the best train/transport sim by far better then even TTD.

Hopefully this game will match TG.

Well, I will sorta write a mini review of the game, comparing it to RT3, things that usually isn't mentioned in (payed) game reviews. :

1- There isn't any more sand stations or repair stations: you must pay a fixed maintance cost evey now and then;
2- Placing a station is much easier now: as you drop track and stations, the city buildings reallocate themselves to allow the construction, so you don't need to make weird curves to match - just place it and the game handles the rest.
3- There are 3 sizes of stations, and when you build one near a production site (farm, oil pump etc.), it is called an "annex", and there is one annex for each of those kinds of buildings (handled automatically);
4- The game is very beautiful, and there are lots of details, for example: in a farm annex, you see the cows being loaded in the train. You can even see the station bell or the "train driver" signaling the departure (gosh, my English sucks);
5- There are 3 levels of difficulty for laying tracks: easy (trains use the same track); medium (trains will stop when the track is already in use, but will move through other trains if takes too much to move) and hard (will stop indefinately);
6- There is no more half loded carts - either you have a full load of something or you don't.
7- Now you have traffic lights (although they are handled automaticaly). Just lay a track into another one and they will appear, either 1 way or 2 ways.
8- The game is certainly slower than RT3 - I would say it runs like a medium map in Civ4;
9- It is easier to spot supply and demand on the map: just click a station and on the borders of the screen you will see little signs pointing the way to other cities where prodcuts are needed or supplied;
10- The time lapse isn't so fast as someone suggested. I think it is quite the same as RT3 (haven't played it for 1 year though). Couldn't find any settings to change it.
11- You can customize keyboard shortcuts;
12- You can't choose the material of the bridges you built;
13 - When you build a new train, the game automatically picks the newest one - but you can pick another one instead, if you choose.

Other than that, the game is basically RT3.

Cheers.
