Wow, what's with the performance? My cpu is an obvious bottleneck, but still, like another poster here mentioned Oblivion runs way better.
Overall I'm enjoying it. Concerning combat (since that seems to be everyone's main issue, so I shall make my own opinion known also) I find it far more intuitive than the G2 system, but neither really gets me going. I find I'm just hammering my mouse button hoping to do something. It seems also when you block/parry not only must you face in the direction but you alsmost have to move so that you ACTUALLY use your weapon/shield. That sort of detail really impresses me, although more often than naught it just all feels too random.
Still though, this is nice cozy RPG. Though I wish it was a bit more sandboxy (and actually had you make a character >.<)

Is anybody playing a mage? I'm finding the melee combat kinda dull and thinking of restarting as an all out caster. Are casters any fun to play?

I had a similar problem, it disappeared when I activated depth of field instead of what it was set to as default

You can't 'restart as an all out caster' because you won't be capable of any offensive magic unless it's on scrolls until your at least level 6, and then you'll hardly have any mana. Plus it costs a fair amount of money. Better to just try learning spells in your current game.

i got the black 'crap' around models/char as well, for me I had to disable DoF...I'm not sure on th is but if you can't do 3.0 shaders or whatever is after 2.0 then you need to Not do DoF, if you can do 3.0 then try DoF....I think there are some ini settings that may cause this if you are trying to get like farther view distance or something...the dof affects what you gotta choose I believe of course I read this once like 2 days ago so I know it's vague but maybe it'll help.
edit: this is sort of a spoiler so if anyone feels like it maybe you can PM me...do you have to be on the orc's side to get the 'darker' magics...like summon demon and all that. if you know where you can find some spells (i'm looking for lightning in particular) and feel like PMing me to avoid spoiling the game for others i'd appreciate it.

No, you don't need to be on the Orcs or Desert guys side to get the darker magic. But to be the best you can be at it you need to join the necromancers, who are found in the desert somehwere.
Just find a shrine of beliar to learn magic such as lightning. Although you'll need to have a certain amount of ancient knowledge.

Shrine to Adanos is in the desert aswell, beliar shrines can be found everywhere |

kill all of them then this quest will be marked as successful , then give him raw meat

God, the friend-AI of this game is stupid.
I'm trying to break out of the Orc-camp with my buddy Wenzel, who just runs out and then proceeds to do nothing (except die).
Seems like I get to take on 20+ enemies alone, with little room, and insane odds.
Guess I will have to wait until I become level 20, or something.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

finished them using a trick , fight them all on the stairs of the lighthouse 
o and my level was like 6 when i liberated that city |

they are 9 shy deers , they are allways near Chris so now go and find the other five |

For anyone who might be interested here are the best "tweaks" I could find (mostly from the jowood forum):
1. Go into the ge3.ini file in your game directory and replace the corresponding entries with these new strings. (note this is only usefull if you have alot of RAM 2GBs or more)
ResourceCache.u32SpeedTreeMaxMemUsage_High=1000000
Cache.SizeImage=256000000
2. Install the NO CD crack. This will remove the disc check and will slightly improve load times as well as landscape stutter.
3. Open the logo.ini and put a semicolon at the start of each row. This disables the intro videos therefore speeding up the game start up. (some say it even frees a bit or RAM -dunno)
4. Defrag your HDD.

You might want to change Fullscreen=true to Fullscreen=false in your ge3.ini to force the game into windowed mode. Your mouse cursor will be limited to movements within the game window area though.

Eny one abel to find Hanson in nordmar taht supose to...  Spoiler: | ...tell u were xartes is, i look nort-east of teh wolf calnd and found a ston ring wiht some goblins go a bit longe and you see a house but thre is no one there just emty, is it the right huse. The huse is to the left of teh hamer clan brige (if ure face is poiting away from the hamer clan) is that the right huse?. |
